please help.. stuck in system recovery

i am not rooted. I updated my Galaxy S last night (with the VW update) and fell asleep, when i woke up (9 hrs later) it was on the Samsung boot screen so i tied to do a hard reset which didn't work, so I tried to go into recovery mode, I got here but i cant scroll down and when i press reboot now it just gives me the android with the exclamation point. When i take out the battery and do a hard reset it just brings me straight back to the screen...

Please help it would be greatly appreciated!!!

Take the battery out for 5 mins and try to get in download mode!(look in my sig if you dont know how) then report backk

as soon as i put battery back in, it goes straight back to the system recover screen where it wont let me do anythings. please help... thanks
