Default Samsung S running 2.3.3 (Canada - Bell) doesn't recognize any MP3s I transfer to device

Updated to 2.3.3 the other day (yes, late, I know). Any MP3s I transferred (via drag and drop through the USB cable) before the update are recognized by my various media players (default, Winamp, Mortplayer), but the device doesn't read any new MP3s I transfer (by cable or via the nightmare called Kies). I have tried restarting numerous times, have downloaded a third party tool called ScanMedia, have moved the files around into various directories, checked ID3 tags, deleted the files, transferred others, nothing works.

Any fix for this?
