by the time you buy the phone and buy a 4g donor and go thru all the headache you could just pay the price

It is very simple to get a Sprint S2 and use the standard methods to flash it to Boost. I've done a bunch. Here is how I'm doing mine.
Get the MSL of the device while the Sprint firmware is still on it. getprop method.
With the MSL safely recorded flash the Boost firmware on the device.
Did you make sure to get the MSL BEFORE you flashed Boost on to the device? If you're here and didn't get the MSL use the aLogcat method on the Boost firmware.
Use the usual suspect set of tools to meid match your donor and the S2.
Make sure the MSL of the donor and your S2 match. VERY IMPORTANT.
Once the MSL and the MEID match do a ##786# reset on the S2.
When it comes back up it'll try to activate OTA. Cancel it.
Go back into the S2 and program profile 0 as per your donor.
Write to phone and let it OTA this time.
If the MSL, MEID and profile 0 match then your phone will pass OTA fine.
Enjoy your new phone.
You will not get 4g. To get 4g you need a 4g donor and you need to live in a 4g covered area. I do not live in one and thus have no interest in this. If you live in a 4g area and have a 4g donor then you can drop me a PM. I can direct you to where folks are actively helping others to achieve this. Good luck.

Kinda of expensive though with having a 4g donor. That would be the nice thing of having GSM. I used to have AT&T (back before they were Cingular), and I had three phones that I just put the sim in the phone I wanted to use that week...

Actually it is based on the phone model itself Sprint's epic 4g touch is WIMAX (it is the same phone as ours). you have to look at the phone itself to determine if it is WIMAX or LTE.

Up until very recently Sprint's 4g was wimax only. Now Sprint is operating wimax and lte. You can still get wimax phones on Sprint but they're discouraging them and trying to get everyone on Sprint over to lte. Eventually the plan is for wimax to be phased out and for lte to be the future.
If you flash Sprint's phones over to Boost unless you have a valid 4g mac address you cannot get 4g. The only way to have a valid 4g mac address is to get it from a valid 4g phone that is allowed on Boost/Sprint wimax network. Then you have to spoof the mac of the 4g phone that you're using to the valid mac that you want to use.

I'm trying to flash a new donor phone and am able to get the SPC/MSL from my Donor Prevail but since the Galaxy S2 has already been flashed to boost from a previous owner the MSL/SPC reads 000000? Can I still get this phone to work for me?

Don't take this as concrete, but I think Sprint still has both WiMax and LTE, WiMax to accommodate to those older phones out there still, and LTE for the new phones coming out.
As for Boost, it's is only WiMAx (for now). I heard rumor that they are talking about getting LTE and also something about Roaming as well, but for now it's WiMax only.
As for the flashing, like kolosus posted you can do it, and no I don't know how, but I know there are tons of sprint phones flashed to boost.....I even saw a few Samsung S3's flashed already LOL, so yes you can flash it to boost, but you won't have LTE to my knowledge, it will only be WiMAx.
On a side note, the 4g speeds are limited to I think it's 2gb data usage, after that they throttle you down to 3g speeds again until the next start of the month.

I Dont know where to start on the switch to boost from sprint
not understanding "Go back into the S2 and program profile 0 as per your donor." when i read from donor phone it has 2 profiles...profile 0 had my meid number as NAI and profile 1 NAI is my username and it is set as profile 1 is active user...now when i wrtie to the s2 do i do it the same way or make profile 0 active? thanks for you time kolosus
ok got everything right....3g is up and running, just cant get it to OTA activate...i do a ##786# reset and it restarts and i cancel the OTA and rewrite to phone and the OTA never comes back up? any suggestions?
