Hello my name is Miguel this is my first post here so bar with me please,
I have the Samsung Galaxy S2 (White) for Boost Mobile, I have had this phone since December 2012, I also live in Queens NY, I have been noticing that my 3G and 4G speeds have been really low lately and also my Signal bars fluctuate alot from 1 bar to full, I would like to know if this is a fault with the device or problems in my area with the service. If its problems in my area how would i find out, What i have done so far is I updated my PRL its version 61009 and I have Android Version 4.0.4 incase that helps. I have contacted Boost and they tell me that my area is receiving this Sprint Vision Upgrade, and what ever date and time of completion they keep giving me does not matter my speeds are horrible, alot of times. I used to get good speeds regularly but as of late its next to none I have to remain on wifi when ever possible. I would really appreciate if someone can help me with this issue and point me to the right direction, I Really love this phone and i want to get the most out of it. Thanks
happened with me also, i am in south MD. they said the same thing to me as well. lasted for almost 2 months, i was also getting bad call signals as well during that time .... i was on the verge of drooping boost and to other carrier.
It has always been pretty slow for me in Utah. It seems even slower lately. I have just resigned myself to the fact that the Sprint network is not great. But, it works for me and they price is right.
Just to be sure, you are completely stock, not rooted or anything? I had a massive decrease in 4g speeds AFTER rooting and can tell you how to correct that but if you're bone-stock it's irrelevant.
And don't give up. It's a sweet phone. Complain to Boost if stock or keep up on the forums for help, there's a wealth of knowledge here. I know it sucks waiting and not having the device perform the way it should but once it's straightened out you'll really like it!

Your 4g is connected?! I would say that is a very poor signal area. I got 1767kbps on 3g
You haven't by chance passed the 2.5gig in the month have you?

No where near that i an only at 650mb currently its mind boggling i don't understand according to my coverage map i have everything ours solid coverage supposedly.
Jeez... Yeah at those speeds I'd be pretty pissed too.
I'd work through the ranks with boost service until I got a satisfactory resolution. At least some monthly credits until their apparent issue in your area is resolved.
Do you have that direct # for Boost service that gets you to a live rep? 877-438-8643 is what I copied. Haven't tried it yet though.

Thanks for your help flawless i will try to be more patient and wait i hope that its resolved pronto
That is way too SLOW for being on 4g 0.12Mbps?! (120kbps) I am on 3g and got 1767kbps (1.76 Mbps)
I spoke to boost mobile and they told me that I will not receive any credits for it because They told me that since our phones can connect to the service no credits will be given citing that speeds are not guaranteed. So in essence they told me that I am screwed basically. So much for that i guess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then we know it isn't your phone. It is also odd that your upload speed is faster than your download. Have you traveled to a different place and got better speed?

You can manually update profile and PRL without doing the entire SCRTN reset. Doing the ##72786# makes the phone do the reactivation process. which takes a bit to complete. You can go into settings/system updates and check for a new PRL or do a profile update much easier.
I am noticing a trend my speeds come in in the dead of night and during the day no speeds Like its being throttled during the day and opens up at night really strange

Sounds like tower overload. Lots of people trying to use it during the day will slow it down.
Happened to me once before, also. Step in line, there are MANY users upset about the "bad connection", "slow internet", and worst of all "no 4G". From what I heard they will be attempting to fix the connections to speed up the internet, but it could be one of the MANY lies Boost Mobile fed us.

Not just Boost, all the cellular carriers over inflate their connection speeds. I think they sample it in the early hours of the day while most of us are still asleep. The problem is that the smartphone is a victim of its own success. The was a time when only a few people had a smartphones, and many had no cellular phone at all. Now, everyone I know has a phone, and all but one of them has a smartphone, with most of them being android powered (Take that Apple! lol).

Well in my point of view, Android's are the best. They come at a fair price, for what you get.
I figured out my problem is the tower in my area i took my phone on a trip around my county and when i left my neighborhood I saw a dramatic increase in speed. I saw 13mbps download and 1.7mbps upload damn that's fast. When i returned home my speeds went back to crap. I am so happy its not my phone thanks everyone for your help I appreciate it!!!!!!!!!!
glad to see this and know its not my phone, i live in Staten Island, and i am experiencing the exact same issue with the galaxy sII. I just got it yesterday and the speeds were very fast, and now they're super slow like transitmikes. I need to go somewhere else and make sure but it sounds like we have the same issue. Thanks for this thread.
You would think Boost/Sprint would have anticipated the amount of network traffic in the city and built for it. I know they are not focusing on Wimax anymore in favor of LTE but still makes you scratch your head. You guys should both also try removing the throttles per some of the other threads to see if you get any faster speeds... Who knows, they may put heavier throttles on customers in more populated areas from the get-go regardless of the 2.5mb limit or not.
Have either of you guys checked out where exactly a 4G tower is in relation to your area? Check it out on the link below. I have one literally at the top of my street and can pull 10-12mbps outdoors and 5-7 indoors since I'm so close. May be worth it to find a tower and test near one (during off peak hours if there is such a thing in the city lol) http://www.boostmobile.com/coverage/
I don't see tower locations on that map. What am I missing?
Ahh my bad. I think this is the one my bro showed me that have the physical tower locations. Try this one: http://www.clear.com/coverage
EDIT: note that you need to enter your ADDRESS and ZIP (not just zip) to get the map to work right and show your towers. That tripped me up when I first used it...
