I have a google account set up on my GS2 and I am sync'ing GMail, Contacts and Calendar.

Calendar and GMail seems to be sync'ing fine as when I log into them using my PC I can see appointments/emails.

However, when I click "Contacts" on the GMail webpage, my contacts list is empty.

When I add a new contact on my phone I always select "Save contact to phone". I thought that because the phone syncs to google mail then new contacts would still be seen when I log in on my PC?

What is the correct method to have my contacts stored so that if I factory reset my phone I can recover them back again?
I know I can save them using Kies but I wish to save them by sync'ing with my Google account.
What is the difference between "Save contact to phone" and "Save contact to Google"?
Wouldn't they both have the same effect if I was sync'ing anyway?

How do I get my existing contacts (not new ones that I add) to sync and appear in my GMail contacts list when I log in to my GMail account using my PC?

Save your contacts to Google.
Go to Settings>Accounts & Sync and check Auto-sync option or select your Gmail account and sync contacts manually.

Select save contact to google when creating on phone this syncs it with google and saves it on your phone, you can merge all contacts by going into your contacts list, hit options button on the phone and select merge....
