It only sucks when you decide to wait after your carrier for updates.
I'm on Bell also and have been running 2.3.6 for months and now on ICS for the last 3 weeks. With all the options available, why wait for Bell?

Use Odin and flash with a new firmware from www.samfirmware.com (Smartphone>Android>GT-I9100>Europe). There's plenty of YouTube videos on how to use Odin.

I'm also on Bell Canada. I used the Baltic one (I9100XXLPQ) and have had no problems with it.
