Default Disable Vlingo / Voice Control - ICS

I upgraded to ICS yesterday via Kies (I have the XEU version) and was under the impression that I'd be able to finally disable Vlingo. However, when I select voice command in the applications, the "uninstall" option is still grayed out!

Has anyone managed to find a way around this without rooting / voiding warranty? I can't stand the bloody thing, I hate that it activates when you accidentally double click the middle button!

ok figured it out! you cant uninstal voice command in the settings menu, however there is a way, if you use go launcher you can unistall voice command by going into the app draw and long pressing on the voice command app, then hit the red cross once it pops up, you will then be taken to the unistal page, job done! no more vlingo!

sparxuk - thanks - this seemed to work! Had to install go launcher, followed your steps and then uninstalled go launcher afterwards. The stupid thing now doesn't pop up when I double tap the middle button!

Default FINALLY! Remove Vlingo / Voice Command without root (ICS Only)

That's right. And it's so stupidly easy you'll be kicking yourself. I still am.

> Firstly, you'll need to install Go Launcher. Search on the Play Store for it.

> Then, when you've installed it, go into the app drawer and press and hold the 'Voice Command' icon (the blue one).

> It will shake with a red cross next to it, click to uninstall and follow the prompts.

> That's it. Gone. You can uninstall Go Launcher at this point if you want.

There doesn't seem to be a way to install it again, unless a factory reset brings it back (but that's no loss, i've been close to chucking my phone out of the window because of that thing keep popping up)

Also, this does only seems to work with ICS. My wife has a newer GT-I9100G S2 which is still on gingerbread (O2 UK) and this trick doesn't work.

Which network are you on Marr O2UK also - I think it might vary by which mobile network build you are on and not the OS version? Certain apps seem to be removable or not depending on how the Network views the world?

I'm on Three UK.

The uninstall option is greyed out in Applications on my phone.

It also can't be disabled using the application manager like much of the bloatware (most carrier crud can be disabled on my phone), it's strange Go Launcher can rid of it.

It worked!

Unbranded UK SGS2 on official ICS, no root, totally stock, and it worked. Through app manager, Voice command's uninstall option was greyed out. However, Go Launcher let me uninstall it. No more launching of that PITA app with an accidental double-tap of the home button!

Awesome.
However, with new ICS update, double tap of home button wont open "What would you like to do" unless you re-accept the terms and conditions. I'm just not going to accept them for now... until then, thanks for this helpful post!

GoLauncher is fantastic btw

This is good to know, I'm using Apex but can still do it. One question though, what's the difference between Voice Command and Voice Talk or are they the same? I have both in my app drawer.

Can't find the words to express myself how many times I've been raging about this SHIT called Vlingo! And the problem that Samsung has ignored it.
And by the look of things wheen I googled the problem, it's quite a few people with this problem!

Thanks yet again my good man!

I didn't see a Go Launcher, but found and installed Go Launcher EX.

Where is "the app draw". I don't see it. Nor could I find any voice command app.

Trying to fix the same problem running cyanogenmod9 on Touch pad.

Go Launcher = Go Launcher Ex (its the same)

App draw = Applications Drawer. Its where the list of apps are shown. Tap on the app drawer button on the homescreen dock to get to the app drawer.

You can see the voice command app in the app drawer if there are no shortcuts on the homescreen. Or just double tap the home key to activate.

Thanks, just wanted to note that you can do with with APEX launcher as well. Just tap and hold the Voice command icon in the app drawer and then drag it to the uninstall area. You will be prompted whether you want to uninstall.

After that, Vlingo is gone, and the double-press home button will not launch anything.

Default Easy removal of apps

There is an even easier way to get rid of BUILT-IN apps in I.C.S.:
Go to Application Manager.
Long-Click on the app.
DISABLE the app.
Use this with S-Voice or any other built-in app and you can then install a replacement.
If you need to use the app later, it will be at the bottom of the Application Manager list and can just be ENABLED!!
Found this in another forum -- sorry cannot find it again!!

Simple...

Go to setting ==> applications
Go to the "all" tab.
scroll almost all the way down till you get to voice control.
long click.
look for the "disable button"
press it
and you are set.

Superb....struggled with that daft app since I had this phone. Now at work when everyone hears "WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO?" numerous times during the day, they won`t hear me instinctively mutter "STFU BIATCH" as I desperately try and shut her up, which will probably now save me from losing my job. Thanks again!

Default Removed using Uninstall tool

Hi ,

I had the same problem , and I solved it using an uninstall tool called :
Uninstaller Master
I uninstalled the voice command program and voila : the Vlingo is gone and pressing home button twice has no effect anymore.

the link for the tool on Google play : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.soft.quick.uninster

hope this helps.

Even with GO launcher i could not get a red X on the app to unistall it. I used this method to deactivate it and it worked.

The only problem now is that a Google voice program pops up when i double tap the homebutton. And guess what, it is even more annoying then the "WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO?" phrase. Maybe it works well in english, but she is speaking my native language and sounds like a angry ******ed middled aged woman. Translated she is like: "SPEAK!" and then 2 seconds later "I DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE SAYING".
I dont know the apps name, so I cant delete or deactivate it...

Why is it so difficult to remove the double tap function? Anyone know how to get rid of the google voice program?

How come everyone else has said THANKS, THIS WORKS...yet I do not get a red X on the Voice Command App, or any of the pre installed Samsung apps), just the apps I've added to the phone...thus this method doesn't get rid of the the stupid f'ing goddamn bollocksing touble tap 'what would you like to do' thingy!

Sorry, this stupid thing is driving me bonkers!

Default Disable Vlingo / Voicetalk

If you are still struggling to disable Vlingo/Voicetalk in Android (including Jellybean on the Galaxy S2), I have finally found a way to do it without rooting your phone.

In Android, go to

Settings
Apps (or Applcation Manager)
Then scroll across to ALL (i.e. show ALL Apps)
Scroll down and find "Voice Command"
Open it and press "DISABLE"
Close Settings.

You're done! Now you can use whatever voice recognition software you want (until Samsung shutdown this loophole in their next update?)

Many thanks to someone from another forum for posting this solution, and Nul Points to Samsung for ever including this crapware without a delete option.

Hi folks. Registered specially to pass this on, since the %&$*@-ing Tap and Talk thing has been driving me nuts too.

(And just realised that in my haste, I missed the end off me own name! It’s Oolon Colluphid, or should be )

Anyway. I’m on Orange, Gingerbread 2.3.4 or whatever, in case that matters. Point is, neither Go Launcher nor Uninstall Master let me delete the bloody thing, despite rumours that they do.

(Oh, and that sodding Go Launcher: installed the beggar, and it wiped out my wallpaper and plastered a load of widgets across my otherwise blank pages, all my organised icons gone. Well maybe it wasn’t the launcher, but it happened precisely when I installed it... and uninstalling it doesn’t solve it either. So beware.)

Anyway, I think I’ve found a(nother) way of killing the voice talk crapware.

Settings – Applications – Manage Applications – All (up the top, next to Downloaded).

Scroll down miles to Voice command. So far, so what HateVlingo said. But mine doesn’t have a ‘disable’ option. Drat.

But, I force-stopped it and cleared the data anyway.

And lo and behold, now when I double-press the button, I get, instead, a Samsung Disclaimer, blah blah blah... and if you Confirm that...

“Vlingo Terms of Service
By clicking the I Agree button below, you agree to be bound by the Vlingo Terms of Service, yada yada.”

Oddly enough, I clicked Decline instead. And got the message “Sorry, you must accept the terms of service to use Voice command.” Aw, shame, I thought.

And now the bloody thing DOES NOT COME ON!

And before you ask, to bring that up I now need to double-press really quite quickly – in effect, you’re unlikely to do it by accident any more.

Since methods that apparently worked fine for others didn’t work for me, I can’t vouch for whether this will work for anyone else. But it may be worth a go. Personally, I’d suggest trying it before you risk Go Launcher

Notsure Not working - remove vlingo

Hi all,
I've tried the solution below (I don't get an option to disable), I've tried using "Go Launcher", no red x appears. Anyone have another idea? I really hate this program and want it off. Thanks.

Force Stopping and clearing data seems to work up till now. Thereafter I trashed the app itself from within application folder. Hoping that it will not come back again. I also tried the stupid Go-Launcher and it was not just a waste of time, but like others said...caused a lot of problems with wallpaper and gadgets added and so on. Seems like nothing but adware to me without helping to resolve the problem, aka ability to uninstall the Voice Command.
