Unhappy PLEASE HELP! Firmware flashing failed using Odin

Hi, My GT-I9100 was GB 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 then I tried to upgrade it to ICS 4.0.3 using I9100XWLPD_I9100XXLPW_I9100NEELP4_HOME.tar.md5, Epic 4g Touch Pit.pit and odin3 v1.85.exe. However, when it reached about 90% (showing hidden.img in Odin) it then failed the flashing process.

I later tried I9100GXWLC2_I9100GODDKL1_I9100GDDKL1_HOME.tar.md5 using Odin3 v1.83.exe but it failed as well when it reached about 10% in Odin.

I later tried GT-I9100_XEU_I9100XWLP7_I9100XXLPS_I9100XEULP5.tar.md 5 using Odin3 v1.85.exe. Again when it reached about 90% (showing hidden.img in Odin) it then failed the flashing.

I then tried I9100XWKJ1_I9100O2UKJ1_I9100XXKI4_HOME.tar.md5 (stock firmware from SamMobile.com) and again when it reached about 90% (showing hidden.img in Odin) it then failed the flashing.

I have tried using 2 different new usb cables; 1 was original Samsung, different usb ports on my laptop running Windows 7 but without success. I have killed Kies processes and anti-virus software on my laptop.

I can get into download mode on the phone fine to try the flashing with Odin. However, if I go into recovery mode on the phone, I just get the warning message "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again". When I went to Kies emergency recovery mode on my laptop, it asked me for a recovery code but I didn't have one, so how can I do it?

What is the problem? How do I go back to my Gingerbread version? Or how do I upgrade to ICS 4.0.3 which is more ideal for me? I'm really lost, so please help me. I'm a newbie to Android and Galaxy S2. Thank you.

I know what caused your problem, the problem is I'm not too sure how to fix it. You've flashed an epic 4g pit file onto your phone so in theory flashing an international gt-i9100 pit file along with firmware should sort it out but I can't find the right pit file

GS2 GT-I9100 PIT file

I've never had to flash it so I can't personally vouch for it but considering the state your phone is in currently, it's worth a shot.

Thank you Hawker for your comments and the pit file. I have tried the pit file you suggested with 3 different firmwares and all 3 tries failed.

Here is the summary what I did:
1. Used Odin V1.85 to flash GS2_GT-I9100_emmc.pit and I9100XWKJ1_I9100O2UKJ1_I9100XXKI4_HOME.tar.md5. Result failed at hidden.img about 90%.

2. Used Odin V1.85 to flash GS2_GT-I9100_emmc.pit and GT-I9100_XEU_I9100XWLP7_I9100XXLPS_I9100XEULP5.tar.md 5. Result failed at hidden.img about 90%.

3. Used Odin V1.85 to flash GS2_GT-I9100_emmc.pit and GT-I9100GXWLC2_I9100GODDKL1_I9100GDDKL1_HOME.tar.md5. Result failed at factoryfs.img about 10%.

For each try, I only checked Auto-reboot and F.Reset Time boxes in Odin. Any more ideas or another pit file I can try? Thank you.

Thumbs up Passed!

Hi, I finally did it with the following conditions:

Used Odin v1.83 to flash u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit and I9100XWKJ1_I9100O2UKJ1_I9100XXKI4_HOME.tar.md5. I also checked 3 boxes in Odin (Re-Partition Auto-reboot and F.Reset Time).

The above pit file was downloaded from:
Installing the new firmware update 2.3.6 EU Version on the Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100 with Odin

then click on "Odin V1.83 +Pit".

The firmware file was downloaded from SamMobile.com.

Now I have the following:
02 startup screen
Model GT-I9100
Android 2.3.5
Baseband I9100XXKI4
Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKJ1-CL647431
Build no. GINGERBREAD.XWKJ1

The Odin log was:
<ID:0/003> Added!!
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> I9100XWKJ1_I9100O2UKJ1_I9100XXKI4_HOME.tar.md5 is valid.

Note: The 02 (service provider or carrier) startup screen and v2.3.5 are not ideal for me. Therefore, I'll create another thread later to ask how I can backup the phone software and upgrade to ICS 4.0.3.

Thank you once again to Shotgun and Hawker who gave me valuable details and pointed me in the right direction.
