Default S2 stopped working on Golf bluetooth handsfree after ICS update

Hi - not sure if this is a post for a S2 forum or a VW Golf forum, but hopefully someone may be able to help. Until yesterday I connected my S2 to my incar bluetooth handsfree. The handsfree was factory fitted on my VW Golf and I used the buttons on the steering to wheel to make and receive calls. I do this a lot so have been very happy with it.

Last night I updated my phone to 4.0.3 - from GB. I renamed the phone again, but when trying to connect my phone via the in car blue tooth it finds my phone but says it's incompatible. As I say this is how I use my phone a lot, so does anyone know how I can connect it with ICS? The in car bluetooth is call PREMIUM mobile telephone provison (sorry don't have any more details than that).

If not, I'll look to revert to GB as it's taken away the main functionality I use it for. Would anyone know the safest way to do this?

Thanks,

I had problems with 4.0.3 with Bluetooth tbh, after playing 2 songs the phone would crash, it was fine on GB, however after updating to 4.0.4 it's working ok again, apart from a Bluetooth error message when it's connected to my car, but it all works as it should.
Can you update to 4.0.4?

I discovered a fix to this by accident yesterday. Originally I was having trouble interrogating the phone book or playing bluetooth audio via my VW Golf factory bluetooth head unit.

I read up here and elsewhere regarding the issue and discovered that short of using a custom rom that the fix might be a factory reset.

I figured it would be best to backup the Galaxy S2 via Kies and when I opened Kies I noticed there was an update, which I also completed. Low and behold the damn thing wouldn't run the backup properly and it appears ICS & Kies are also having issues!

After much frustration I discovered the fix to this was to go to

Settings> Applications> All> LogsProvider> Clear Data

Voila fixed the backup issue.

Thankfully I didn't do the factory reset this morning because when I jumped in the car the Phonebook was available via the MFD & Bluetooth Audio was also working.

So before you go ahead and factory reset try this!

Hi,

Tried the Settings> Applications> All> LogsProvider> Clear Data
and it worked - I can now load my address book into my VW car kit.

thanks for posting this fix. (not sure what it clears but it worked :-) ..)
