Default Samsung Kies Takes Forever TO Detect My Phone

I plug in my phone to my computer and for HOURS it will say it is loading until I can put music on my phone. Why is it taking so long?

It could well be kies that is the problem. I have a windows laptop and just use sync on windows media player. Works perfectly.

I've had that problem too, then for no apparent reason it connects, then the next time nada!
Just recently though it seems to be behaving itself.
If you google kies problems, you'll find that it's cursed throughout the samsung community.............

Not sure why people even use Kies for file transfer from a pc to a phone..If you have music/flvs/videos/.apk files on your pc be it in Windows or Linux all you do is hook the phone up to the pc with the charging/usb cable .It'll be seen by Windows as a usb device and up will pop a few options.I choose "open with explorer".Next, 2 options should appear in a file window on the pc..Card or Phone..Open phone as you have 12gb of storage there..Next open wherever your music or videos/whatever are stored on the Windows pc and copy them to a preferably empty folder on the phone. Make a new folder on the phone if you feel the need and copy them over. Slightly different with Linux..I use plain Mepis with nothing added to aid the task. First unplug the usb cable from the phone. On the phone go to "Settings",,tap "more"....tap "usb utilities",,tap "connect storage to pc",,next screen that pops up plug in the USB lead,,up will pop "usb connected",,hit "turn on usb storage",,next screen,,tap ok..On Linux up will pop your phone with all the storage/drives..Copy whatever you want from the Linux box to the phone. I reccomend you download the .apk file "ES File Explorer"and use that for file manangement..better tool than "My files"..If you've downloaded any raw .apk fies from the net copy the file from your pc to some folder of your choice on the phone then simply open it and click install,,you're done. Kies is just way to cumbersome for normal file transfer stuff imho..Not required in my case.

If you still need Kies on Windows and it's being a b..tch try all the USB ports,,it's fussy.
Should also say I use XP so this relates to it. You'll also need to download and install the
Samsung USB_Driver_for_mobile_phones_v1_3_2300.0.exe for things to work..Probably already installed if you've run Kies install..

Course if you need Kies for other reasons I can't assist so you should ignore this..
