Default Tar files and ZLimage?

Everytime I download a Tar file, it changed to a zlimage to which I can't use?

I'm on android 4.0.4 XWLPY baseband version, odin, samsung kies and windows 7

The Tar file is just a method of compression, the image file should be contained within the Tar, check your file associations in Windows to see what application (if any) you have associated with Tar's and also make sure they are not set to auto extract once the download is complete
