Default Lost all contacts! How to recover from backup?

I've got a Galaxy S2 ver. 4.0.3. My phone crashed yesterday and after reboot all phone contacts are gone.
I have a full backup file created a while ago. Is there a way I can recover contacts only. I don't want the rest of the outdated data. Kies does not let you select what to recover.

I do not use Kies but I thought it allows you to choose just your contacts. Also, if you sync with your gmail account you can use that to sync but you need to be careful that Gmail contacts are not deleted. So if it were me I would export my gmail contacts to a CSV file so you can restore if necessary
