Hello and welcome to Android Forums pauljaco!

Don't panic! So long as your phone turns on it is not, "bricked".

There are a number of ways that you can try and restart your phone shown here in post #1.

How did your phone end up not being able to boot up?

I was downloading real racing 3 and it was updating and then just shut down. Since then i have tried most things the hard reset option only goes as far as the samsung splash screen then stops.

The download mode i can get but when i try to flash stock ROM onto it it does but then gets to cache.img and then just stays there and does nothing else apart from get red hot

I get the impression its back to Samsung unless you have any other ideas?

Try removing Kies etc from your PC.
Then flash the latest Samsung USB drivers from here (currently 1.5.20)
Download latest Odin from here (currently 3.07) (link towards bottom of page)

See if that makes any difference.
