Default eye symbol on notification bar

Hi forgive my ignorance but does anyone know what the flashing eye symbol is for in the notification bar in jellybean 4.1.2 ?
I was making a call when I had to look something up on my phone and noticed an eye looking back at me! It kept blinking at me! Strange!!!!!!!

Blinking eye

See pages 23 and 24 of the User Manual (Jelly Bean), English (Europe).

Might be GPS.
