Exclamation Running out of ram!!! Help!!!

For a while now I've been having issues with, what appears to be, RAM. Phone becomes slow and unresponsive. I've noticed that this happens when the RAM status bar reads anything over 660MB/784MB. My assumption is that I've done something to max out the amount of RAM and have freaked out my phone... oooor I don't have enough RAM allocated, which for a novice viewpoint appears to be 784MB.
Is there a way of getting back this RAM with out restarting my phone? Of course I've tried pressing "Clear memory" and it only gives a hand full of memory back.

Secondary question... Is there a way to increase the amount of allocated RAM?

Same thing was happening to me a while ago. Download Easy Task Killer, it'll stop some apps that the regular clear memory option won't. I found this happened to me after installing a lot of apps and games. Now my RAM is usually in the 200-400MB range.
