Question Skyrocket vs. Galaxy Nexus

Hello all,

I'm debating between the Galaxy Nexus and the Skyrocket. I'd like to buy one of the other off-contract to use on Straight Talk, and the prices appear roughly the same. On the one hand, I feel like I constantly hear great things about the Galaxy Nexus. On the other hand, the specs on the Skyrocket look a little better, I prefer its appearance, and I've heard good things about its radio (both the LTE, and its general reception performance).

Do you folks have any suggestions? If so, I'd really appreciate hearing from you!

i would buy galaxy nexus. It's runs true ice cream sandwich(if you care) not some modified carrier's crap. 1280x720 display vs 480x800.

The only good thing about Skyrocket is that it has dual 1.5ghz vs. dual 1.2ghz. And 8mp camera vs 5mp.

i have both phones.

the camera quality is the same on both phones to me for both pictures and video. the skyrocket has image stabilization but you will learn to take steady pictures on the nexus.

the battery life on my nexus is noticably better than the skyrocket.

i am not a root'r but the stock ICS on the nexus is really nice and basically the reason i bought it. i like unlocking the phone into camera, bookmarks are managed nicely, usb connecting to a pc does not require pressing any buttons, there is no at&t/samsung bloatware, it has softkeys and google ICS is really sleek and logical.

the nexus only has 16gb and the skyrocket is expandable. with cloud storage and google music this isn't an issue for me.

i think the skyrocket has faster gps lock but once locked both are the same.

the downside of the nexus softkeys is that the softkeys take up screen real estate so the skyrocket usable screen is actually bigger.

i think voice quality on the nexus is cleaner.

both are good phones. i like the nexus more simply due to the clean google ICS implementation and the better battery life.

And because Nexus is exclusively Google's Phone it supposed to get the latest updates straight from Google. I hate the way carriers like to add some of their own apps on top of the new OS. And they always run at the background and if you stop them they reappear again. They dont take much ram or space.. but let the user do whatever he wants.
