Default Locked out of my T-Mo Samsung GS2 w/o data network

Hi,

I am in a conundrum and I am hoping someone can help. Here is my situation:

My T-Mo GS2 running on latest official Gingerbread was running low on power recently, so I used my android app "Data Switch" to turn off only my 4G. While my phone is in my pocket, it somehow drew the security pattern too many time incorrectly and enough time to take me to the "Too Many Pattern Attempt" screen and is asking my Gmail username and password.

The issue is I KNOW my pattern and my password, but I AM NOT CONNECTED to the internet through my phone because I DISABLED it.

So as you can see, I am unable to identify myself as the true owner of my phone because my data network is off.

HOW CAN I UNLOCK MY SCREEN WITHOUT DOING A HARD FACTORY RESET?

Now that being said, let me tell you what I tried already:

1. Power on/off
2. Remove my battery and SIM card and put it back
3. Tried the "null" trick for password
4. Held the power button to turn on/off flight mode
5. Called myself & repeatedly press the home & return button
6. Download "Screen Bypass Recovery" on Android Market using the web (but it can't push the app cuz again my data is off)
7. Connected to my Samsung Kies to backup my stuff (that worked so I am at least happy I won't lose everything if I gotta do a hard reset)

So what am missing? Where have I not gone far enough? Was there a step that I failed to do or try?

I am on USB debugging mode by the way.

If I were to upgrade to T-Mo's ICS firmware, would it help and bypass my screenlock?

Welcome to the forums Neonick.

If you want to upgrade to ICS anyway, I'm guessing that will clear your settings. If you want to keep Gingerbread, probably your only hope is to factory reset. If ICS doesn't clear it, you will probably do a factory reset anyway. You can try calling Tmo or dropping by one of their stores to see if they have another option but I doubt it.

Unfortunately you are just completely out of luck. It is important that you have data enabled so you can authenticate the phone identity. Unfortunately the only thing that I can think is that factory reset is necessary to get into the phone. To prevent this from happening in the future get yourself juice defender ultimate. The program automatically disables the data. It re enables it when you power the screen. Also try face unlock so you do not get many wrong tries.

Hope this helps a little Hopefully you can get your phone back to operational state soon.

Thank you both for your recommendations and advices!

I found my solution totally by pure chance. As looked for other alternatives, I forgot that I had an app called "Android Lost" that allows you to send certain commands via another 'permitted' cell phone using text messages. I simply sent the command to turn my data on and it worked like a charm! It actually ended saving me lots of time and headache.
