Default Outgoing MMS is really poor quality?

Whenever I try to text photos to people the photos end up being extremely poor quality, which is disappointing because one thing I was really excited about this phone was the awesome 8-megapixel camera!

It always says "Picture too large, compressing..."

I have no problem with incoming MMS, they look wonderful.
For the record, it's a pre-paid Samsung Galaxy S2 phone through Virgin Mobile if that matters at all.

Thanks for your time!

The thing is that the images we usually take are like 2-3 mb each. And when sending an mms they are compressed to less then 500kb.
One way to resolve this would be downloading goSMS and raising the mms limit to 5ish. then press on keep image preservation. This should fix this problem.
