Default GS2 shut off and now plays loading animation forever

I was trying to look up a video on youtube when my an error occurred and I had to force close the youtube app. I opened it again and successfully loaded it and looked up the video. I was just starting to play when the screen flashed white or gray or both and shut off. I was a little stunned to realize my phone had just turned off; that was the first time that happened. I turned it back on and the Galaxy S II logo came on as normal just fine and then the ATT animation played. It sat there for a little bit as it usually does then the ATT logo played again. Then it played the animation again, and again and forever and ever. I held down the power button to turn it off but it just “turned on again” and opened the Galaxy S II logo followed by an infinity of ATT logo animations. I have to take out the battery to turn if off. I can’t do anything and I need help/advice. Is there anything I can do to avoid sending it in and getting a new one? I really would not like starting over from scratch.

I have not rooted my phone nor have I done anything of any risky business when it comes to the software of my phone. I have kept it safe and dry for the past 6 months. I have only put ADW launcher on it which has worked for the past month. I have not recently installed any new apps in the past few weeks.
