Default Contacts deleted after flight

Hi there,

So yesterday, in San Diego, I went to an AT&T support center to do a full wipe of my phone due to software problems. They backed up my contacts, wiped my phone, reinstalled ICS 4.0.4, and put my contacts back in.

Yesterday night, before I flew to Boston, I was texting my friends. All was well. But this morning, when I landed in Boston, the second I turned on my phone, all my contacts had been deleted. My text history was still there, call logs were still there, but all contacts had disappeared off the face of the earth. Nothing on SIM card or any of my gmail accounts.

Thoughts?

Do you know how they backed up and restored your contacts? If they were synced with gmail, they should have automatically restored when you sync'ed the phone. If they were ever only stored as phone contacts, then you might have faulty memory in the phone which might have been the original source of your problems.

I think google dashboard will still have a list of all your contacts if they were backed up to your google account at one time or another.
I think, but maybe not. Not sure.

Are you saying your Gmail contacts are gone from your Gmail account? That's impossible imo. Go to your Gmail account on a PC and check that out. I've finally come to the conclusion that it's better to have zero contacts on the phone itself and just filter which Gmail contacts show.
