Really? I guess you don't know much about the rivalry. Where 1 is, the other is not far behind.

Sure they do, but your to short sided to see why.

So here.. let this give you a taste of the answer why

"Seeing that Apple went with their A5X chip (dual-core A9) in their new iPad, it makes even more sense that Samsung would make an effort to one up their rival. Now every time a month passes and we hear nothing official about the Galaxy S III, it increases the chances they are going with Exynos 5250."

Did you see that?

i'm listening if you'd like to explain it to me. what apple does with their ipad has nothing to do with what anyone does with their smartphone. but since i'm missing the point, enlighten me

I currently have the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (LTE). If this comes to Verizon I will be selling it for this. If it doesn't come to Verizon, I have the option of terminating the contract because our service is horrendous and there are no termination fees. I'll be keeping my eye on this. If any of these leaked rumors/ specs hold a torch to the real thing its worth jumping ship.

I've heard so many great reviews about the Samsung Galaxy S II. While the Galaxy Nexus is great, it doesn't seem to be competing, and I grow tired of Verizon always missing the boat with these phones.

I hope the SGS3 has a 4.6" SAMOLED Plus HD screen, a battery that's well into the 2000 mAh range, a single physical home button, Ice Cream Sandwich with a nicely overhauled TouchWiz interface, also quad core sounds delicious, a 12MPx rear camera with flash, a front facing camera that doesn't stink, data connection capable of 4G speeds, voice command that feels modern, and 32GB on board storage with 2 GB of RAM. All that would be amazing!

HOWEVER, my biggest hope is that the phone is NOT majority plastic. All the sexy specs I just listed would be somewhat diminished if they were found in a cheap looking, and cheap feeling device. Even though I'm a big Samsung supporter, I've always been a little turned off by their love for low quality plastic on high end devices.

I really like the textured plastic on the back of the Galaxy S II, it's hard to scratch.

Metal backs tend to scratch allot easier, my Transformer Prime for example has an aluminium back, got scratches on the back within a week of using it but none on the first transformer after months of use because it's plastic.

Be careful what you wish for.

Glad you brought that tablet up; I actually love the design of the Transformer Prime, materials and all. And my Samsung Captivate (which I've had since '10) has zero scratches on any of the metal. Its actually the little bit of plastic used that's scratched up.

I guess it depends on who you are, but my opinion still stands. I don't want a cheap looking/feeling phone that cost me $250+

I'm more interested in durability and performance than how the product looks.

The back panel on the Prime also effects wifi and gps performance.

I am not sure about Dual Core. In any case, SGS 3 will finally be revealed in May.
Waiting for it to come.

Won't happen. Too similar to the iPhone, and Apple has sued for much lesser similarities.

I agree, though. I think the one home button layout is the most practical.

Which I think is dumb.

They shouldn't be able to sue unless Samsung's home button was round with a square in it.

And shouldn't be able to sue about software unless the code is the exact same.

Is this a "render" of what the SGIII will look like?

If I recall correctly, the international version of the SGII has a centered home button, but also has a capacitive button on either side, right?

Is there or has there been an Android phone with only a single, centered, physical home button?

That's just picture of international SGSII that I probably saw million times since its announcement at MWC last year. Look closer at it, you can see menu, back button on the left/right of home button.

your 2 posts may have answered each other.

it may be that for any given bit of processing, the phone can do it more energy efficiently using more cores. sure, if you're doing something that needs then all to run fully, then you will be using much more power obviously.

but for smaller tasks, it may be more efficient to split the work up over more cores, than to run a greater speed through one core.

i'm no expert on how chips are made, but i know for sure, running information faster through one chip will cause more friction and therefore more heat, and therefore some battery is wasted on needlessly producing heat, instead of giving electricity to your phone.

so all other technicalities i'm not fully familiar with aside, you save some power right there. because you use more cores running more slowly, so drag is less and heat will be less.

but ya, speed wise, for a phone, i find we're getting as fast as you'd need barring some other advancement like google glasses, and really the next spec i'd like to see is new battery technology. but that's a tough nut to crack.
