Picked up the OtterBox Defender the other day from walmart (couldn't find it online) for $39.99, $10 cheaper than the OtterBox Site.

Only thing I don't like, it's pretty much impossible to get the screen protector clean, from the inside especially.

I just recently got a S3 and I must say the flip cover is probably what I'll be sticking with for as long as I have this device; it's just great! I might go for a flip cover with an external battery, though.

I haven't experienced any dirt with mine, but if they had the commuter in black instead of white, I would have went with that.

The built in screen protector is nice though. Haven't even used the holster, never really bothered using one.

Default My case has finally arrived!!

Hey everyone, so its been a while but I finally got my BAK case that i've been waiting for what seems like forever, but its finally here and I thought id share some pics for people to see!

While it did take forever to finally get my case, I am glad that I stuck with this company! They are pretty new but have a great idea and the case looks great! A solid product in my opinion and is perfect for me since im a college kid and am somewhat forgetful (i admit it)...now I never forget my ids or credit cards!

People should definitely check em out!! functionality and protection all in one!

I love the simplicity!! Great job!!

I really like my new Aero color Urban Armor Gear case. It's the slate blue. It is not silicone! But tpu, which I love, and is a hard shell but isn't shiny and prone to scratches. Good combo, and it was holding me away from the Incipio dual and Speck candy shell.

I just got a BAK Case after reading about it here on the forums. Seems pretty cool. The front is raised a little which is fine for me (between that and the gorilla glass, I am not too concerned). It is cool because I have been using it as my main wallet (I keep an ID, Credit card, and a key in it). So far so good. I mentioned on a different thread that I got a coupon code with the case for friends or future purchases I suppose... i am not sure if anyone can use it, but it is "BAK2013" if anyone wants to possibly save $5.

If anyone orders using the code, can you please verify the code working or not?

The BAK just seems like a dangerous thing to do. You're taking all of your valuables and holding them in the air with one hand. I hope you guys can run fast ;-)

I see your point but you could make that generalization about anything and you could just as easily lose your wallet or get it stolen and look at ladies with purses (all valuables in one place)...but its a nice conveinant way to remember everything at once ecspecially when your going out to the campus bars

P.S. - I can run quite fast!

I know this thread is dead now that the S4 has taken the S3's thunder, but I just wanted to share a story about my current case. I currently have UAG case on my S3, but having previously used an Otterbox Defender for nearly a year, I was really skeptical how much protection the UAG would offer vs. the tank that is the Defender. That question was answered today. I took the nastiest fall I've ever taken while on a ride today as the right crank on my ATB snapped mid-pedal. I was probably closing on 25 mph at that point and still building speed. While the S3 was the last thing on my mind, I happened to feel it smash against my hip as I went down right on top of it on the ground, then as I rolled it ejected from the universal holster that it was in, flipped, bounced, and crashed repeatedly a good 10 feet or so. Again the phone was the last thing on my mind, but it happened to be in my field of view almost the entire time I was eating the blacktop - well, at least that's how I remembered it as the entire thing was blur.

Anyway, after I finally got myself all patched up (thankfully nothing was broken) I used my phone for a few minutes before realizing it was in perfect shape, and the case only suffered minor scratches. I had also brought a Ballistic SG Maxx with me that I normally would swap out for on a ride, and having forgotten to do so I was concerned about the UAG. Now I completely trust this case and have no need for anything else when I'm out playing. UAG ROCKS!

Thanks for that. For me, after trying several cases, the best compromise between looks and protection is the Samsung original protective cover plus. Even if I think the UAG looks good it kind of ruins the design of the S3.

The UAG definitely took some getting used to as I wasn't crazy at first about the roundness of the corners when viewing the phone from the front and the flatness of the back. Definitely took away from the contour of the S3. I did try on the original cover case you mentioned, and as cool as it was I didn't grab one as I needed more protection. On that note, I'd have kept the Defender if it weren't for the outer silicon stretching out over time and eventually wouldn't stay on the inner shell. But I'm happy to be rid of the bulk, that's for sure.

Not sure if this has already been mentioned in this tread, too many pages to read them all right now. But, I recently got the Otterbox Armor for my wife's S3. But there are a couple issues. During a call it trips up the proximity sensor so if you have the phone dim the screen while you have it to your head you can't access the screen to hang up even since the proximity sensor is always reporting it is to your head. For now I've disabled the feature to dim the screen during a call. She also complains about the sound or others have complained about how she sounds, so she normally removes the phone to use it. I keep telling her she should be using a BT device with this case any way, but... you know how "some people" listen. Its not like I've already given her 2 or 3 BT headsets or anything.

Anyway, those are the issues we have seen with this case and some things that may help if you are having them too.

I've been looking at cases, and the Urban Armor Gear case is one of the best looking I've seen. Got one ordered, can't wait to try it.

Got the Urban Armor Gear case. I've tried a few different cases, and this one is my fave. I love that the phone is still slim, no added bulk or weight like a few other cases I've tried. Yet it still feels like it will do a good job of protecting if I drop it.

I also like the stormtrooper look!

Cracked my Otterbox commuter taking it off. It's in the bottom corner and ends about 1/2" in right now. Hopefully it holds for a few more months

They have pretty good customer service. If it's less than a year old they will warranty it. Just go to their web page and submit a claim.

My Otterbox Defender is starting to stretch out at the one of the corners. I'll be attempting to get a replacement silicon soon.

I'm sure it is over a year old now, but I'll have to dig through my Amazon records to check. The crack is growing even though I haven't removed the case since it happened, it is almost halfway, so it is going to split in two soon. If I try and remove it it will almost definitely split.

I would contact Otterbox and see if they will replace it. I have always had great service with them. It doesn't matter where you bought it from, they will replace it.

Default What is the best case for the Galazy S3?

Hello - I recently moved to the Galaxy S3. Is there an opinion (or existing thread) as to what the best case (I want one that is skinnier than that Outerbox).

Thanks

There's a huuuuuge discussion of various cases going on at GS3 Case discussion thread. That thread probably has way more information and opinions than you need, but there are a lot of good pictures and comments that should help you make a decision.

Found a company that makes custom printed cases for like $20.
Good quality on slim cases and a perfect fit.

Site is down until later this week but you can find them on Facebook really easy.

I found a great case: Case-Mate Tough Xtra. It is very durable and looks good.

I decided on the Case-Mate Tough Xtream. It is the right size and protection.

I am using a hybrid hard/soft two piece case. I love it. Comes with a rubbery piece that covers the whole phone.. then has a hard shell to go over that. Very tight fit and... the idea behind it seems like the best way to go unless you want a monstrous bulky case that covers the front. Depends on how you use your phone. I consantly have my phone in my hand so this case is perfect and tough.

I always feared that TPU cases wouldn't offer enough protection in all situations but also disliked 100% hard cases because they don't have any "give"... therefore transferring all the shock of a drop right to the phone.

This is hard on the outside and soft on the inside offering amazing protection. Check it out on newegg... you can find so many color combinations, it's awesome. MYBAT hybrid cases, I believe.

I've tired a ton of cases already for the S3, and I should of just went with the same case I had for the LG Motion that I recently found for the S3, and I ordered two in Black without any hesitation. Great seller, fast shipping, great communication, and mine will be here tomorrow.

Yes that's pretty much exactly the case I am talking about, I just have a different brand (MYBAT). I love the protective feel of these designs.

Oh, didn't know they came in different brands, but yeah man, out of all the cases I went through on the Motion, I just kept ordering those as the phone just felt so SOLID inside that case. All the other cases I've tired so far with the S3 just feel like the phone will just slip right out, and some are one piece, and extremely cheap, but the one we both linked, they're in nice and snug.

Not to keep repeating myself, but it is nice to see someone else has used these designs and felt just how great they really are.

Default Urban Armor Gear

I'm very happy with the Urban Armor Gear case that I have on my S3. Fits extremely well, has a nice lip around the front to protect the screen, small corner bumpers on the back of the case to help protect the case itself from any scuff marks, and hardly adds any bulk at all. It comes with a screen protector, but I went with a Zagg HD instead. I have the gray "Aviator" model, and it looks really good.

It also amazes me that some ebay sellers are so terrible. Like, for example, if I sell something that happens to end Friday night or Saturday morning, and the buyer pays by Saturday early enough in the day, I'll print their receipt, package their stuff, and go use the self service kiosk at USPS that is available in their lobby 24/7. I rather send their stuff, and mark as shipped, and provide a tracking number as soon as I can, the sooner the better. I'm real anal with my ebay feedback just as much as I am anal with my credit cards and credit. The faster I ship, the faster they get, the happier they are, and more positive feedback for me.

Most sellers mail quick while others don't which boggles my mind. Some cases I've ordered are still not here and I ordered a week ago, and they all are shipping from a few states away. I've shipped from FL to CA before a few times FIRST CLASS in 3 days when I use to still live there.

Then you get the sellers who mark as ship right away as they print their labels from home, but then the tracking doesn't update for 2-3 days as it wasn't actually shipped when it was marked as shipped almost as if they think marking it as shipped will make the buyer happy thinking it shipped so fast. I ONLY mark a sold item as shipped once I come BACK from USPS with MY receipt that contains the tracking. Then I mark as shipped, and add tracking right away to both their ebay account and PayPal account, I also send a confirmation message that the item shipped, and I provide the buyer with the expected delivery date, their tracking number, and even the link to the USPS website to where they can track it, but I NEVER get that EVER. Currently, my feedback score is 121 with 100% positive feedback, and that's over a LONG period of time. I never ONCE received negative feedback on ebay because I really do go that extra mile to package everything nice, with newspaper or bubble wrap for padding, a invoice, and just a all around great experience. Sometimes, I even have the buyer message me amazed at how fast they received their item. For example, if they paid Saturday around Noon, I would make it a point to get to USPS within the next 2 hours if I'm free, and mail it out before the 2pm pick up, this way by that evening, or mid afternoon Sunday, their package is already either leaving the state that it was shipped from or a state or two down the road already to where they receive by Tuesday, and they're extremely happy, but I guess that shows you that some sellers are better all around than others.
