Default I have just got an OTA update

Hi All.

Just had an update to 3.0.15-671647 which seems to be a build from 5 June 2012 04:08:30 KST

Wondered what this update has improved / added.

I am on a CPW S3 handset on the Vodafone network.

Cheers.

According to this: Samsung Galaxy S III gets first official firmware update | Android Central

The update is for "stability improvements" and includes a new radio.

It looks like it fixes memory issues with TouchWiz having to reload after exiting programs

i have an unbranded handset through Carphone Warehouse and on the Vodafone network. I take it because its unbranded that the update doesnt need to go through the other network service provider checks.

Just checked mine. kies says I cannot update my phone thru it (Mac) and the OTA method also says there is no update available. I am unbranded, on 3, unit that my network should make any difference...

Has anyone noticed anything significant with the update?

i go through the process, then it says
please connect device(it already is connected)
then it returns back to, you have an update available again......

I hadn't got the OTA update, so dowloaded it via Kies. Unlocked and unbranded.
Only difference is no lag on homescreens. Seems slightly faster overall.

Thumbs up The official "I just got my OTA update"

Just got my F(irmware)OTA update and well is it just me or did Samsung change the stock keyboard? The keys seem a bit spaced out. Other than that wOOt I'm glad I got the UK int'l version from Handtec which totally rock.

Cheers to all my UK mates! ♥

All I am going to say is Kies sucks b@lls!!! My phone won't even connect and when it does it says that it can't update this phone!!

Any way I have literally just got the OTA after about 12 hours of hitting the update button on my S3

I take it the update isn't available for UK branded phones yet? I got an OTA notification at work, but didn't do anything due to a low battery. Now I can't find the update OTA or through KIES on my Vodafone S3.

Weird

Hmmn, now when I connect the phone to Kies, i get a big orange warning

"your device does not support software upgrading via Kies"

It's a stock phone with only the recommended Samsung OTA update applied.

WTF?

Every time I try to do a software update through the phone it fails. When I try to download it through Kies it is not showing an update. I hope it shows up soon. Anyone know why the OTA update keeps giving me a server failure.

I'm having a bit of trouble getting the update. I got a notification on the phone yesterday and it tried to download but I wasn't on wifi, so I stopped it, yet it kept trying to download each time until I rebooted the phone.

WHen I got home, connected to the wifi I tried the update option in the settings menu and it told me there was no update now.

So, I decided to install Kies, as much as I hate it. Kies told me the update was there, and downloaded it fine, but then put my phone into download mode and disconnected it from the PC and sat there doing nothing until I eventually rebooted. I got an error coming up that drivers could not be installed?

Not sure what else I can try but it will obviously not allow me to get future updates. It's the whole reason I abandoned Kies and stock firmwares on the old Galaxy S, but I wanted to keep this one stock for a while at least!

I have just checked for updates and it has installed. I'm on orange unbranded but no idea if it is unlocked.

Looking forward to better stability and no lag on home screen icons.

I am not getting the update via Kies and it always fails on through OTA. It keeps giving me a server error. I am on an unbranded version. I want this update. Does it matter that my phone is rooted? When I look in the Firmware autoupdate settings it is not showing my phone. Is there something else I need to do?

I knew I should've been patient and bought an unbranded device. I couldn't wait and got one from O2. I'll root and install a custom ROM at some point I guess.

I'm on vodafone, came in OTA yesterday. I had checked the night before via kies and it said no updates available.

Anyway, the OTA worked first time. It did add a "music store" (or shop? don't remember) and "my web" apps, both vodafone specific things, I uninstalled both straight away.

I rang around all the stores near me (2 phones4u, 1 carphone warehouse) and asked if they had any sim free/unbranded phones in stock that I could buy outright, they only had ones that I could buy on contract.

O2 had one on PAYG that I could buy outright, but it has O2 branding on it.

Ok that makes sense, now I understand.

I had o2 branded gs2 last year, ended up debranding phone by flashing official UK unbranded stock rom, then changing the csc sales code, this will mean your phone will then get the official unbranded updates, it will be like your phone was never branded

Did doing that raise the flash counter on your phone? (causing a yellow triangle to appear at boot?)

I usually always end up rooting and installing custom ROMs but don't want to do it so soon after buying it.

Cheers

You only get yellow triangle after rooting, to get rid of yellow triangle you just flash a stock kernel.

Flashing an official stock rom won't give you yellow triangle but yes it will increase your flash count, you can wipe your flash count with a usb jig or if your rooted you can download an app called 'triangle away' by chainfire, it removes the yellow triangle and resets your flash count to zero, I done this on my gs2 which I still have.
