you guys are getting some great battery times. I have the verizon version and i cant get a full day out of it. By the time im out....lcd takes about 3.5 hours of my battery. This is tough coming from the driod maxx.
I have Verizon Blue 32gb. I've been so busy the last three days that I haven't used it much so I've been a light user. On wifi (mobile data off) at home in the evening, airplane mode overnight, 4G from when I walk out the door at 545am to when I walk back in at 630pm (and go to wifi). Made a few phone calls, some texting, read email, updated som play store apps and a few other "light use" activities. I got 3 full days from the last charge. I was amazed. And it was pretty consisten, about 30% each day. Now, I hope I get to use it more in the next few days, casue I thinks it''s an awesome device. Very happy with it so far. Just have to get used to the larger size.
Now that you have your Samsung Galaxy S III device, share your battery use...
Have you noticed great, good or just okay battery life?
Post images, too
Mine (AT&T) has just been charged to 100%, so I guess we'll see how well it does tomorrow...
I've noticed pretty good battery life, considering I cant seem to leave the damn thing alone. I saw a comparison on endgadget where the GS3 was second only to the Razr Maxx in terms of battery life. I am using the power save settings though.

I have the Verizon version as well. It's been about 13.5 hours since I unplugged with moderate usage sporadically throughout the day and I'm still at 51%. I would've gone through two charge cycles with my Fascinate by now (then again my battery is almost two years old, but still). Very satisfied.

Three days?!?! Hahaha wow you must be a pretty light user and on power save mode or something, that's incredible.

Jesus guys....if i bought a phone just to use once in a blue moon....i would've stuck with my iphone. I moved to this phone for its screen and awesomeness. I need power users posting their results. Not people who carry the phone for looks and nothing more.

Feel ya my friend as I am a very heavy user as well, but remember RAZR MAXX is 3300 mAh while S3 is 2100 mAh. So quite a bit of difference. Hopefully Samsung will announce the extended battery size sooner than later.

Well some of us have work and don't get very many opportunities to use our phones. It's midnight and I finally managed to get it to 1% by using video chat for a couple hours and play GTA3. I was at 51% when I got home at around 8PM. Still pretty rock solid if you ask me.
I will post a pic w/ battery usage on the weekend once I'm actually able to use the phone all day.

Not sure what you mean. I work 12 hours a day supporting (cannot say under NDA) servers to keep a popular game running. There is no reason why the Galaxy S3 cant give me 1 good day of normal usage. Im going to ignore your response by factoring in that maybe i could have a bad battery or a wild running app.

Sounds like you need to download the app called carat. It will clean that up for you.

Just to refresh your memory, here is your response to me earlier:

Perhaps I read it wrong, but the last statement sounded a little d0uchey to me. My bad if that was not your intent. You said you wanted people posting results who are power users and not ones who bought it "for looks and nothing more." All I'm saying is that some people who post results here are unable to be power users because their work schedules may not allow it (such as myself). Plus I'm guessing a good number of people in here are college students, so I figure not everyone here has the restrictions of a work schedule like some of us do. Half the time I'm working in a room where I'm not allowed to bring in a PED (Personal Electronic Device), so I only put heavy use on the phone a little before 8AM and after 5PM until I go to bed. Probably a big reason why I was at 51% by the time I got home. Despite such light usage during core hours of the day, my Fascinate would still require a recharge in the middle of the day (I'm usually in the 30's by early afternoon).
Again, I will post results on the weekend when I'm actually considered to be a power user. Hopefully this will be more along the lines of what you're looking for. "Normal usage" is pretty subjective, but I agree with you that getting a full day shouldn't be a problem. Perhaps you want to post what the biggest power hogs are from your battery stats and it might give the community a better idea of what your problem could be.

I'm kind of surprised that there isn't an option to have your data shut off when it isn't used for a certain amount of time like on my DROID x. seems like that would save me some battery.

just chiming in on this subject since it was at the top. I've had my phone for 4.5 days now, so far I have been extremely pleased with my battery life, especially when compared to my Captivate.
AT&T is my carrier and right now, Id say most of the time Im connected to wi-fi, but when Im out and about, a majority of the time that I look at it the phone is on 4G LTE.
The first full day I had the phone, I wanted to run it down completely so I could give it complete charge that night. I was still setting up the phone, so I was constantly on the market downloading and installing apps, moving things around, etc. By the time I got home that night, I still had 29% left on the battery. By the time I got into bed I still had 15%. I finally got to sleep at Midnight after spending the rest of the evening browsing the net and updating my bookmarks to kill the rest of the battery.
Since then, with normal use (at least for me) which consists of a decent amount of texts, I handful of 10 - 30 min phone calls, checking email, facebook, twitter and some other apps, by 8pm I still have 45% or more battery life remaining.
Even when my Captivate was new, I don't recall having that much battery life at the end of the day. So far I have no complaints in the battery department with this phone. There are some other areas which I have a small beef with, but nothing to discourage me yet.

Loving the battery life on this thing. I've got the verizon 32gb version.
For comparison, My previous phone was Galaxy Nexus with the extended battery (same 2100 mah as the S3).
Did a drain test yesterday, streaming netflix via 4G (about 40% signal according to opensignalmaps)
S3 lasted nearly 6 hours
Nexus died after 2 hours and 15 minutes
that's almost a 3x improvement!
Screen on auto brightness for both.
Usually with the nexus, I'm down to about 20% after a regular work day (7am to 10pm, about 20 minutes talk, several hundred emails pushed from 3 accounts, a little bit of browsing/reading news)
With the same type of use on the S3, first full work day it still had 60% left at the end of the day, and that includes more playing around, loading apps etc than I normally do on the nexus.
I remember reading somewhere that the Nexus has a max power drain of 2.1 Watts, while the S3 is rated for 1.3 Watts. almost 40% difference. I'm seeing much more than 40% improvement in battery life that's for sure!
The pentile display that makes certain things look really dim, really does make the battery life amazing for a phone this big. I do kind of wish it just came with a bigger battery and brighter screen. I would sacrifice few more ounces.
I've been using the phone literally nonstop on WiFi for the past 3.5 hours installing apps, customizing, etc - and trying to kill off the first charge since unboxing. It's gone from ~55% to 29%. I'm on power saving mode. I'm trying my damndest but the thing won't die.
Just got my new S3 few days ago. Most of my S3 battery is consumed by the screen. I reckon the camera/video is a big battery sucker. Next is general use (I've been spending too much time on settings and configuration). I don't do much browsing.
My battery lasts just for a day. I must put the phone on charge by 11:00 PM.
Also, charging thru USB->PC is very slow. This phone needs to be connected to the wall outlet for proper/faster charging.
I come from Nokia phones.... The battery consumption makes me go "dang".
Using the phone and all its features basically on/off all day - took off from charger at 630am and was at 6% when I put it back on the charger close to 11pm - got awhole day and than some with heavy usage!
Today same routine off charger early am and I am seeing somewhat faster battery drain will monitor - barely any usage but i think one of the culprits is the photo widget that slideshows every 5 minutes -
I kept Wifi, Mobile data, sync, GPS, and bluetooth off for the most part (but the parts where it was on are noticeable), and only used it lightly (texting and calls).
I also used JuiceDefender and Advanced Task Killer apps

Been on 4g for 14 hours with 4 hours 19 minutes of screen time and at 20% battery still (gps on always). Used Google Maps, Chrome, eBay, camera, and Media Server pretty heavily. Also read Pride and Prejudice for about an hour with the Kindle App as well though don't think that drained too much battery. Have been trying to drain the battery the last hour and it's a slow process. Playing with features and switching out wallpapers but the number hardly moves etc. Makes me happy haha.
On a side note, how do I attach screen shots here? I tried to take them for reference, and uploaded it but got the error that my dimensions were 720x1280 and it couldn't be resized and I'd have to do it manually and upload again. Help?

After you take the screen shot you are going to have to edit the picture to the right size. I took a screen shot, sent it to my computer. Re-sized it, and then uploaded it. You can re-size pictures in paint (if you are on Windows).
I'm finding my battery to be very good. But could anyone explain why, when I'm asleep, the phone appears to be awake for periods when nothing is going on? (notice the long gap where wifi and screen were off, but the phone was awake about half a dozen times)

If you're trying to run-down the battery, why put it into power saving mode?
Customer service departments must despair when people can be this dumb.
Didn't get to screenshot it, but before putting it on the charger last night I had been running for 1d 11h with 3h 20m screen on time. I don't have any programs pushing notifications. Had done probably 20m of tethering data. Didn't use wifi at all. But the biggest thing is that I turn 4G off and use 3G except if I'm going to do a lot of continuous web browsing. I noticed that doing all this, the phone only drops 1-1 1/2% per hour. Kudos, Samsung.
Is this what your talking about.. BTW just had to put my phone on a charger. I will say this is very heavy usage... video, texting, talking, web, etc... Just curious if others think this is normal.
I've been getting great battery life on my Verizon GS3, typically 24 hours of moderate to heavy use (screen on time of 3-5 hours). This is with about a 50/50 split between wi-fi and LTE.
Yesterday I changed my Widgetsoid 4x1 homescreen widget to include a battery temp display. I plugged into the charger last nigh and woke up with a 100% charge. One and a half hours after unplugging, my phone was down to 85%. I don't need to know this information badly enough to keep it running like that. I changed that portion of the widget to a flashlight toggle and my battery life should return to "normal."

Can you post a bit more info about what you have on and off, what you have syncing when etc.
With light to moderate use I seem to be getting about 17 hours with about 2 hours screen time.
I have only gmail syncing and pushing emails. Hotmail is checking every hour. I always have bluetooth on and use 4G when out and Wifi when home. I have GPS off and mobile data always on.
I've never used power saving....what does that do?
There's my typical work day. Unplugged when my alarm went off. I listen to music with winamp and podcasts with DoggCatcher all day, with a bunch of browsing and a couple YouTubes when I get bored.
So as long as I don't need more than 40% before bed I'm happy.
i seem to be getting "Android System" using an abnormal amount of battery in the past day or two...gonna have to try and track it down...
Edit: and Maps...im SO incredibly tired of this with Android IMO...im really sorry google...but if i reboot my phone and don't touch Maps, or Navigation...the app should NOT be using CPU cycles or GPS...period...
