I love finding them as well though. A while ago I came across a list of websites that had Easter Eggs hidden in them. There were hundreds!! Some of them very cool. One had an entire game hidden inside it.

You can change text message size. Click message app. Settings. Use the volume key. I also always turn on the use power key to end call. Click phone. Menu key. Call settings. Call answering/ending. Use power key to end calls.

I don't know whether we have different versions of the camera app (I have the International S3), but I just pressed the cog icon to get into settings. Scroll the menu down and on my phone it is the third setting from the bottom.

It is definitely not in that location on the AT&T S3. It might be somewhere, but I've yet to find it.

Default Not sure if this has been reported

When watching a video in the stock video player you can, lock and unlock the screen and soft keys by pressing the powerbutton, so you don't accidentally exit the video, when lying in bed watching movies etc.

Wow... Great thread! Thank you all for the great tips! I've had my S3 only a few days and love it! I've just spent the past 3 hours reading and trying so many of these features. However I can't get my music to play on my tv. I have a Samsung plasma. I have Dlna set to share. I get pix to show on tv and I can access the phone's pix from the tv, but no luck when using google play music app? Theres no tv icon on the music app. Any ideas?

Only a few apps at the moment seem to support transferring the images/music/videos to a tv. Google play music is not one of them (Yet i hope). The standard music player, video player and gallery app all will. SOme others too but think it has to be added. Will be awhile before we see more of this i think.

Laugh TV triggered a photo

Yesterday while the phone was charging with the Camera app on, a photo was taken triggered by something said on the TV. Not sure what the trigger word was but I got a good laugh.

Open the clock app and press create alarm, there will be a heading for alarm type which should be defaulted as melody. Select this and change to briefing.

Same thing happened to me with the music player. I had my mp3s playing on shuffle and there's one song that has a verse that ends with the word "Next" and is followed by a brief pause. My phone won't play the rest of that song with voice commands active because it always jumps to the next song. I tried it 3 times in a row, and it did the same thing every time. I actually gave up on that feature and turned it off, but it's still a pretty cool feature. I love using voice commands for other basic functions like the alarm clock. Off!

Hmm, my music switched to another song several times today. I thought there was a bug in the player. Now I need to check this, if I can remember the songs that it happened to.

That's my .02. Hopefully I'll have more to come.
1. when i place a finger on the lock screen and turn device to landscape, i get the screen to unlock the phone (i setup for pin unlock), it never goes to the camera
** update...when you have lock screen enable, you need to unlock the screen before it goes
into the camera app
2. when viewing a contact, holding phone to the ear does not call that person for me.
** update...you need to go into settings->motion to enable direct call.
it would be helpful if you also include that info when suggesting a feature

what am i missing ???

Now I don't have to reach my pocket to change track or adjust volume. Loving it.

this is interesting, i was not able to adjust the volume with the headphone. how do you do that?

are you also saying with the stock music player, you can ONLY skip forward by double pressing but you can not go back to previous track??

I might be wrong, but I think it was a joke - as you move the phone further away the picture gets smaller because it's further away, zooms in when it's nearer.

There is a feature that zooms in and out with you fingers on the picture but it works by tilting the phone towards you or away from you.

If it isn't working you need to have motion turned on in settings.

Settings > Motion
check the Motion Activation at the top of the menu; toggle the Tilt to Zoom option further down.

Yeah it wasn't a feature on the early firmwares but the brightness slider was added with one of the updates. I should remember which one as I was corrected when I got out wrong last time but rubbish memory. Hopefully someone else will chime in with the firmware version.

Default Press HOME to answer calls, Winamp control in lockscreen

I just did this to my S3. After failing to swipe to answer calls numerous times because my hands were either too dirty/greasy working under the car or I'm out doing yard work with gloves on. Using the HOME button to anwser calls works much better than swiping the screen. I don't use voice commands so this is the next best thing. Just check the box under Phone>Menu>Call Settings>Call answering/ending>Answering key. I also use the Power key to ends calls found in the same menu.

My other favorite is using Winamp and turn on the lock screen control so I can control the player from lock screen.

Use TASKER to launch Winamp when my headphone is plug in.

Use "Custom Auto Brightness" app to control auto brightness. The default auto brightness is too bright for me. This app give you total control how bright you want in different lighting levels.

Yes but you have to pull down the notification area to get to it which is a fail if the screen is locked. Display brightness works over the status bar icons (or wherever) even in lock screen or in apps. I'd take away the slider introduced in xxblfb (just for you ) in a heartbeat. Wastes real estate and isn't as good....

I dare you to try it

Yes I get this magnifying glass. I think it is part of the selection function; in the middle of the magnifying glass is the word that is under my finger, and it is highlighted. It is to aid you in selecting text when it is very small.

i don't mean by pulling down the notification bar though. on the S2 you could slide your finger on the top (without pulling down anything) and it would act as the display setting. i don't know if i'm explaining this well enough, but i really loved that feature.

Sorry I was replying to Evo 5ho's post, I guess you ninja'd me. I couldn't agree more about the slider though, it's completely unnecessary to me (it very rarely shines where I live)
I'll give the app a go in the morning though for curiosities sake. I trust you'll be able to tell me the firmware number when I most likely forget it again

There you go. Was kind of tricky to take a screenshot while holding my finger over the text.

I know the feature you are referring to, my Epic 4g had it. Unless there is a setting I haven't found yet, I don't think the GS3 has it.

Yeah, stock browser. When you take your finger off, the selection handles appear on either side of the highlighted text.

Do you or anyone know where the weather pulls from? I just find it odd that everyday for the last month it's been 55 degrees at 5am lol.

For me, I was delighted to see that when you open the video player, the thumbnails for the videos are live: they all play a little loop from the video, all at once. It was a startling effect, and just goes to show the power of the processor, running eight simultaneous video loops at once.

What little thing did you find in your phone?
Didn't realize there was so much wrong with the S3, not a single issue with mine, considering it was a meek $25 upgrade form my S2, no complaints at least and it's hard to keep up with all the features.

Another one I hadn't seen posted before: you can pause your music by simply covering the screen with your palm. This works even if the music player is in the background while you use another app. Very cool!

That Accuweather widget is useless. Never auto-updates or updates at some God known frequency. Whenever I tried to refresh, it would take long time and then do nothing. So I removed it and got the 3D Weather widget from Play store and that is great as you can even assign shortcuts to any installed App from the hour and minutes buttons it shows as part of the Widget.

Not sure if this has been posted but I only discovered it yesterday.

If your phone freezes for any reason just hold the power button for 10 seconds and it will restart instantly. Saves time removing and replacing the battery

Well the reason we see so many posts about problems with the S3 is because people don't really post about things that are working, they only post when they need advice about something that is not working. I also have not had a single problem with my S3
