Default How do you log out of e-mail?

I've set up my gmail account on my phone, and I'm always logged in. I'd like to be able to log out in case someone happens upon my phone they can't just start going through my e-mail.

I've read that you can delete cache and cookies to log out, but this seems to be a very crude way of doing it. I haven't tried it yet and would rather not.

There doesn't seem to be a way to log out. Does anyone know how?

There isn't really a way to do that. Recommend a PIN or pattern unlock

Is your primary gmail account the account you are referring to? Unfortunately, there isn't a way of logging out of the primary gmail account as it is needed for core device funtionality... You may have to create a "dummy" primary gmail account and then add your real gmail account as a secondary... Even then, I'm not positive you can log out of that account without using a 3rd party mail app.
