Yeah. I heard they were working on an update for it (I don't believe it). My friend with a Stratosphere also has the same problem

I looked into this and it isn't what my problem is. My problem is that when you pull the notification bar down there's always that option to configure wifi. I want that gone.

If Verizon hadn't forced this into the notification area I would have waited longer to root but I couldn't stand it any longer

I really wish there was a way to do it without rooting or something that voids my warranty

Angry still an issue

this issue still exists with android 4.3 on samsung galaxy note 3. has there been an update on certain phones (e.g. the s3 or s4) to fix this? i had the s3 on sprint's network and never had this notification. i've root'd in the past and it was too painful to install updates, so i don't want to go that route.
thanks in advance

There is no problem and you don't have to be rooted. A few steps to get there.

Menu>Settings>WiFi then uncheck the box that says "Notify Me"

After unchecking that box then go to menu>advanced and then uncheck "Wi-Fi notifications", "Auto Connect" and "Always allow scanning"

Then select "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" and set it to "Never"

Here is a screenshot from my phone that has 4.3. I do not have any ongoing wifi notifications.

I have a Galaxy Note 3 phone with the same issue from factory-fresh, and this fix took care of it for me, though the Note 3 doesn't have an "Auto Connect" option.
