Doubt it's going to be today now, Samsung just said "very soon" at IFA.

What a letdown... I wasn't expecting it on my GS3 today, but I was hoping for a timeframe. Bummer

They usually miss their deadlines so they're probably not giving us one this time

Default Will the JB update today be for the international only?

The JB update referred today is for the international only correct? I assume it will be several months before AT&T etc get it after they test it.

There's not likely to be an update today, Samsung just said "very soon." Nothing has been announced officially. It may come to all markets straight away, we don't know.

Like most updates I'll wait for a confirmed date before I go checking every few minutes, I've learnt that 'very soon' can be a pretty flexible window.

It might as well be after the official launch of the Galaxy Note II, which already runs JB. Let's see how it goes.

Another reason to envy Apple...when an update is pushed everyone gets it and no carrier messes with it...

Except for the part where their latest version updates takes iOS mostly up to the functionality of Android 1.6 coupled with HTC Sense 1.0, I agree completely.

So, I think that they are the fastest slow around.

Haven't you been reading the previous posts? There is no point in checking.

Besides, the previous RUMORS were saying it was for International (non-US) phones.

So you'd like to have a buggy update? They never said they were going to release it today, it was only rumoured. If that is all it takes for you to make up your mind, oh well...

It's not like JB is a huge update. You get some different animations (woopy-doo), more information in your notifications, project butter to make it smoother (although the S3 is already incredibly smooth), and Google Now (mildly useful).

The S3 is not smooth compared to project butter. Go on YouTube, type in "project butter" and watch some of the videos of the Nexus running JB. The browser just flies, it's incredibly smooth. The S3 is very fast but animations are sometimes jittery.

Google Now, Google Voice Search and the improved notifications are all very useful and what I'm looking forward to the most!

Are you using an S3, must be one of the only owners I know dying to get back to Apple, why dont you like the S3?

Plenty test Jelly Bean roms around to play with if you have itchy fingers, sister and nieces have 4s's and im not a bit impressed, they are mighty envious of the S3 though, no way im going the iphone route no matter what they bring out, saying that ive two 24" Imac's and love them

LOL What?!?! Please explain your logic here? Apple is the let down of all let downs. How many times have you watched an Apple keynote waiting for an awesome NEW phone and have been let down because it is the exact same thing as its predecessor? Thats right EVERY TIME. At least you currently have the best phone on the market in your hands and you know the update will for sure be coming. Or as you said you can digress and hop back to Apple for the iPhone 5.

Personally, I don't remember there ever being a keynote were the device was the exact same as it's predecessor...every device improved upon the previous (with radical changes accompanying the iPhone 3G and iPhone 4). Nevertheless, he was incorrect to be angry at Samsung for a RUMORED drop date on JB, though consistent updates is an aspect of iOS that I do miss after leaving Apple and waiting for JB on my S3 (though not enough to drive me back). ICS is powerful enough and JB will be icing on the cake.

How about we please get back to the Jelly Bean schedule, ok?

People will shift back and forth between the two brands, it's inevitable.

Android has greater share, it wins.

If someone wants an Apple, great, we'll welcome you back when that time comes too.

That said, let's all move on, how about it?

I ran CM10 for about a week. I know what it is and how it runs. I didn't notice much difference.

The difference is night and day for me. When I compare the stock Touchwiz launcher to Apex/Nova with their jelly bean bases, they're just so much quicker and smoother.

OK so we didn't get in on the 29th. So I guess 'very soon' could mean days or weeks. Ah well I will just have to wait.

More than mildly useful. First, the voice search amazing, imho. Use as a faster Google search than typing and very accurate.

Demo of voice search on the Nexus 7 with Jelly Bean - YouTube

Second, the cards it develops are great.
Third (my favorite), anytime I google a business or address on me laptop, it appears on my JB tablet with a map and travel times.

Truly turns your device into a personal assistant with out even realizing it. For everyone that hasn't seen it you'll be amazed when you do

Really? The latest nightlies fly and are smooth as silk, IMO. I definitely feel the step backwards when returning to stock, even w/Nova.

And Google has swung & missed w/some products/services/ideas/concepts (e.g. Buzz, Wave), but Google Now will not be one of them.

It's out on JellyBean and if you are rooted, there are ports of it to various ICS roms. I got it on XDA, but check your root subforum here, maybe someone already knows.

Here's what I used.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747224

I downloaded the Mikey6 version for Arm7.

Pity about the update only coming "soon"... but I did like the Samsung event and really starting to like Samsung more and more.

LoL

That's pretty much how updates go, always have.

At the next major phone release, remind me to share The Ten Known Rumors, they never miss.

Meanwhile, this will hit the US probably before we know it.

Samsung have got something to prove here. They are producing great hardware but they now have to show that they can back it up with timely software releases.

That will put them in a different league to other manufacturers like HTC who have been extremely quiet about Jellybean on existing phones.

My one concern about moving from Apple to Android was the appalling delay in the roll out of ICS!

My point was that there is nothing critically important in Jelly Bean and definitely nothing that should keep someone from switching back to an iPhone for. If you don't like Android on ICS, JB isn't going to change your mind.

This is Androidforums.com, not MacRumors, and that's quite enough.

Anything else you have to say on that subject, take to Lounge.

Thanks.
