Default Help! Getting S3 to play music through a car head unit

Hi guys, Well i got a s3 the other day and im happy with everything apart from one thing... I have a kenwood head unit in my car with a usb cable linked up to the back which i can connect ipods to etc however it doesnt recognise when my S3 is plugged in (presumably due to the lack of mass storage mode). How can i get my music to play through the car head unit? Would a regular audio jack into the headphone socket work? I have a USB to 3.5mm jack adapter that i tried on the USB cable i already have installed in my car but it didnt work but possibly with a sepereate 3.5mm aux in i could get something to work..?

Any ideas? All my music is on an external microSD in the phone. Im not willing to root my phone at this point

Cheers!

My Honda head unit has usb and 3.5mm jack. Like you usb doesn't work but the Jack works fine with no problems.

I seem to remember reading on the s3 (or possible s2) pages it was to do with drivers but never found a fix

does the head unit have bluetooth?

i bought a $17 BT receiver from deal extreme:

USB Rechargeable Bluetooth V2.0 A2DP V1.2 Audio Receiver - Green - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

then i have NFC sticker that i use to toggle the BT state of my S3 and then launch Poweramp app...

only downside to the BT rec is that it needs to be recharged every 3-4 hours so i have on my cig lighter a USB to micro to charge the S3 and the BT rec...

I don't think its your head unit. Perhaps its your adapter. Maybe its line in? I have a 1994 nissan 300zx with stock head unit and my s3 plays fine through it with the old line out to cassette cable.

I've tried this myself and can not get audio to play through the USB connection, but like the others, it plays fine through the earphone jack.
