Default This son of a ***** won't turn on....

I was browsing the internet on my phone earlier today and it just shut off. Just a forum that I have been to numerous times and I wasn't downloading anything. It just went off. Now I can't get it to turn on. The only time it shows any life is when I plug it in, I get the picture of the battery, but not exactly like the one you get when charging while turned off. It is a similar icon, but no green and it has a little "loading" circle over it. I can't boot it, I can't reset it, nothing. I've done a battery pull, I've done the Volume Up + Home + Power combo and nothing.

There was one point where I plugged it in and the charging icon came up. I tried the reset combination and I got the Samsung logo, then it quickly flashed to the Galaxy S3 logo, then very quickly went blank again. When I released, nothing happened and I ended up with the battery + loading circle image.

Suggestions?

Not rooted, no new apps in the last week or so and it has been running fine. Battery had about 80% left when it happened.

Since your not rooted you have nothing to worry about. Just bring it to the store for service.

That leaves me at least a day without a phone, which is a bit of a problem for me. If I can get it turned on, factory reset even, that makes a big difference. I'll go take it in when I can.

Can you get into download mode? pull the battery, replace battery, then hold power button, home button, and volume down all at the same time.

Let me know what happens.

Have you tried to pull the battery? That has happened to me, but it has turned on

Can't get in to that mode. If I have the battery icon with the loading circle, then the phone is unresponsive to anything. I was able to get the charging icon again, tried the download mode and this warning screen flashed for half a second. I was able to see where it said something about using a custom ROM voiding your warranty. Not sure what that is all about. As stated, my phone is not rooted.

.
If you can't get into download mode... then there is not a quick fix.

Figures. I expect to run this risk if/when I decide to root. Certainly wasn't expecting it after using it stock for a month.
