Default Messaging app

The text messaging app that comes with the phone, recently after i have replied or read a text message and pressed the back button two or three times the next time i open the app it says to start a text message tap top right. Ive tried slowing down hitting the back button. The only way ive managed to get it back is to restart the phone!!

any ideas?

What device do you have? I can move this thread into the subforum for the device. You will probably get more help there, since the stock app is different depending on the manufacturer.

This problem just happened again. Ive just sent a message to the gf i think its sent, not sure but i cant check as the screen goes black and all i can do is type in the message box.

This time i haven't pressed the back key. so its not that. After it went black i left it for two minutes, unlocked my phone still the same.

Pressed the back key and it comes up with the 'no messages' and 'tap the button on the title bar to send message' like when you first use your phone.

My brother has just text me and all it done was come off of the no messages screen go to my homepage and say messaging has stopped working. I go onto the message app and it just says no messages again.

I'm going to restart phone as its the only way i can solve it, but its a bit annoying. First and only problem Ive had so far with the phone.

I'm going to delete alot of messages and see if that works at all

Screen shots would be great, OP. It's not an issue with what you're saying, it's just not clicking in my brain. I think screenshots would be helpful

If there's one huge gripe I have with stock android 4.x it's the sms app. Imo just disable it and get Gosms or something similar that A) works better, and B) is more customisable. Fwiw.

I think, although I could be wrong, OP is referring to the sms app that ships on samsung phones running touchwiz

Yeah. Same as. It doesn't matter of you run touchwiz, nova, Apex, Go, as a launcher, the sms app is the same unless you download an alternative one.

Personally, I use Gosms, as I hate the stock and it's lack of options and customisation.

Im still usin Go Sms bro, it and Go Contacts are the only Go ive stuck with but im gettin sick of thier attitude in general.
I wana make a change but i know Go Sms inside out so im scared to. Love how it now allows you to uninstall or disable stock "messaging" (settings, important tips)

I want an sms app that gives me the same feelin as when i went from years of Go Launcher to Nova Prime lol

Actually it is a little different. Look at stock ICS vs. Touchwiz vs. Sense and the messaging apps are quite different.

I use go as well, although I'm getting tired of all the extras they throw in and the way they are trying to monetize.

I think if teslacoil (pretty sure they do nova) made a messaging app, it would be amazing.

You read my mind man. If Tesla made an sms app id be right on it.
I have bad eyes especial while drunk so i LOVE the font size/colour custmisation n love the pop up msgs.
Id much rather pay a one of price for such an important app as sms than put up with GO's crap

Up until about a week ago my delete key when in stock or typing in general my delete key is very hard to use :-( it will put an L instead of deleting? And I dont have any screen protector which could be causing this nor have I dropped my device or caused any sort of damage and it just started about a week ago it works basically when it wants to other times I haveto press it quite a few times just to delete all the darn letter L's it put instead of deleting what I wanted it to when typing any ideas?

Yeah its ok to back up to the page before in an app but no need to back right out of an app on android, just clicking home or multitasking is fine

Just happened again. argh, I took screen shots. As soon as i send the message the screen goes blank apart from the writing section outline.
The rest of the messages are not there even when i come out of the app and go back into it.
Nothing works except restarting the phone.
After restarting the phone the message is still sending then after about 30 seconds -a minute it sends.

My screen shots are too big apparently and i no idea how to cut them down lol
