Default My Galaxy S3 Battery Life Sucks Please Help! 15% After Only 7 Hours.

My Galaxy S3 Battery Life Sucks Please Help! 15% After Only 7 Hours.
Iíve been having this same problem sense I got my phone about 2 months ago but now Iím finally just tired of it! My phone is rooted, using the stock ROM.

What I do to help battery life:
- Every morning I hold the home button and kill multitasking and kill all running aps in the background then I open autokill which automatically kills running apps in the background that are not needed.
- I have power saving enabled
- Easy Battery Saver running

After 7 hours of use Iím already at 15% and through out the day I barley use my phone. Its like this just about everyday. I use my phone about an hour of the entire day of web surfing and Facebook usage etc. The rest of the day Iím only texting and maybe taking 3 or 4 phone calls that last 10 mins. How much battery could that possibly take? A flip phone can do that and last 3 days..

I used my iPhone 4S much more during the day then I do the galaxy S3 because the S3 has terrible battery life.
On my iPhone I would have about 22% after everyday of using it for 11 hours down time = sleep and 4 hours of usage = texting, , phone calls, web surfing, games etc.

I donít play games or watch movies on my S3. Only texting, instagram, facebook, websurfing which is about an hour a day usage. Also a couple minutes of GPS usage on some days.
What can I do to fix this? I donít want a bigger battery that will make my phone any thicker.
I have pictures below showing usage through out the day and usage under battery.
Please help!
Thanks!

You might want to grab an app like Better Battery Stats & see if something is keeping the phone from entering deep sleep- look specifically at the wakelocks...

What brightness level do you have your screen set to? This is taking up the second most battery power. How often is your email checking for new mail?

I would recommend turning off the power saving mode. I get better battery life without it on.

Even a couple minutes of GPS can be a big battery drain.

EDIT: iPhones typically do get better battery life than Android. Partially because most Android phones have bigger displays.

I just noticed you kill running apps. Let the OS do this. You are most likely killing apps that will just end up restarting themselves. This is why Task Killer apps are not needed anymore.

I can see 4 programs that just love to chomp on your battery and refuse to let the phone sleep when it is off.

Samsung Push Service (Disable this garbage and disable media hub and music hub from Samsung as well.) These a nothing but bloatware and useless.

Light Flow - If you are using a North American version of the S3, you really need to use the stock LED notifications (or flash an AOKP ROM that utilizes LED Notifications properly for your phone.)

Facebook and weather channel can eat battery, if you have constant updates and having the app push them to your phone every couple of minutes. Weather apps should only update every 2-3 hours, otherwise your phone will never deep sleep and your battery will die.

And that GPS Tracking app? Don't know what that is, but if auto searches and prevents the phone going to sleep, that's another issue.

Try disabling those Samsung bloatware apps, change your FB notifications and/or change your weather update frequency and check that GPS app and see what it is doing. Try doing these things for a day and see what happens. What do you have to lose?

@Zak9494, Dude I think we all have the same problem with this phone. We need to remember this phone is darn near a mini pc and does applications constantly running and of course background apps. I sucked it up and went to amazon and didn't order extra batteries cause yes thats more crap you need to remember charging and then carrying on your persons waiting for that time to swap out. I went ahead and ordered a anker extended battery 4400mah. When I say this is THE BEST decision I could've made. Everyone has there own opinions about extended batteries, but i'll be the one to say I NEVER need to worry about battery life. Just a thought...

How do you disable the things you mentioned? I tried doing that and seemed to have messed stuff up. Lost some features (voice connect to google for voice typing and voice search. And a few other things. I ended up having to do a full wipe and reset of my S3 to restore) by trying to force stop/disable things. As well, slightly unrelated, some apps will not let me uninstall. Only uninstall any updates.

I got about 30 hours from my s3 and even then had about 20% battery left , you don't need any battery saver apps at all , go settings , apps and disable what you don't want to use also go on Facebook click your bottom left touch key on your phone and set refresh interval to never , default is every hour , lower screen brightness , and pull the battery and see how that goes , but remember you don't need battery saver apps , I didn't !!!!

Pardon my ignorance... I am going into App manager and I cannot see anything that says disable. If I tap on an app I see "Force Stop" but then I get warnings that other apps may stop working if I force stop. Again, I did that before and many things did stop working properly and ended up having to wipe and restart. Huge pain to say the least.
Other issue is that I don't know what things I can stop and what things I shouldn't. The list isn't just the main apps that are installed, but rather those plus a whole bunch of others

Default Battery drain caused by Internet app randomly starting

I have a Galaxy S III that has worked great for 6 months. Suddenly battery started draining like crazy. It would be dead in about 6 hours with no use.

I did some troubleshooting on my own and with the help of Watchdog Lite, I discovered an interesting thing:

What was happening was that the native Internet browser was suddenly launching (on its own) and moving data through the phone. I canít tell what data and the app itself is not really ďopenĒ (visible.) I use Chrome and would really like to just uninstall the native Internet app, but cannot unless I root.

Anyway, I go to Manage Apps and manually Ďforce stopí the Internet app and my phone is back to normal ... until a couple of hours later when the Internet app suddenly starts up again and starts moving data again! (Watchdog has an alert system that notifies me when Internet randomly starts up so I can shut it down, but what an irritation!)

Anyway, I have not found the cure. I have thought about it being a virus or possibly another app that is ďcallingĒ the Internet app at random times, but so far those are just theories, not fixes.

Does anyone have any ideas?

One more thing. Watchdog allows me to monitor all processes in real time. One weird thing I have noticed is an Android task called ĎPopupuiReceiverí seems to also run at the same time the Internet app randomly starts up. I donít know what ĎPopupuiReceiverí is or does, but I wonder if itís related to my issue?

Iíd love any suggestions from you Android gurus.

- Brent
