Default MP3 playback issues.

This is a problem I'm having frequently at the moment and I'm stumped as to what is causing the issue.

I have around 12gb of music on my phone stored on a 64gb SD Card.

All the music is original, legit and DRM free.

Seemingly randomly. The player loads certain files with <unknown> for the ID3 tags. When this happens the whole album goes this way apart from track one. The player will also no longer play all those files (except track one).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

That's quite possibly an indication of a failing SD card. My suggestion is to back up your stuff AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! I've gone through two S3s (now on my third), and each time, an SD card was damaged -- different sizes, different brands. Last one happened only last week.

So now, I've change how I do things with the S3 as follows:
1) Default to internal storage for new photos, videos, music -- this ensures that new stuff doesn't get written to a "possibly faulty" SD card.
2) Copy the above to my PC as soon as practical after adding anything new
3) Periodically, remove the SD card from the phone and do a complete backup to my PC.

Sometimes, as in the most recent SD card problem, you "luck out" -- in that, when you insert the card in a PC, you can read it and back it off in its entirety. That's what I did this last time, formatted (another) new SD card in the phone, inserted that into my PC -- and copied the content of the old card to the new one.
