Unhappy Battery drainage?

Hello, I have a galaxy s3 sgh-t999 with cm11 snapshot m3 4.4.2. I use nova launcher and greenify. When my phone is idle, i lose 1% about every 25-1 hour. I do use set cpu and have my max ghz at 1100. Is this normal for idle?

For wifi, when I have it on, I lose about 1% every 2-4 minutes. Idle or in use. Is this normal?

I also get cell standby as my 2nd most used battery stat at about 15%-37%. is this normal? I do live in a bad cell area but usually stay at 1 bar and have LTE turned off.

At about 11 hours in on my battery, and 2hrs and 23 minutes of screen time, i had about 39% left. With this battery though, it is all on wifi. Just turning it off when i shut off my screen.

Can someone explain to me if this is normal and if not, is there a fix?

Hi

1% per hour with radios off ( wifi and data off) is fine.

1% every 2 to 4 minutes with wifi on and idle is not. Something it using it in the background. I found that greenifying google+ and google search made a big difference (notifications still get through)

Install Wakelock Detector and see what is using the cpu

Yeah without wifi your getting good battery life.
I wouldnt bother underclocking like that. The cpu is usually in deep sleep or 200mhz when the screen is off and only really jumps over 1ghz when it really has to so youre not doing yourself any favours by UC it imo

girolez: exactly what am i supposed to look for? Cause for cpu usage, all i see as top usage is the messaging app and the seconds is 0.2 with 151x opened (i believe thats what they mean). and this is only 15 minutes off the charger. Could this be the problem?

funkylogik: So i should just keep it at 1.5ghz? It wouldn't affect battery at all?

EDIT: I just checked advanced mode for wld and these two things seem to have high usage. 1013 audio mix. at 3 seconds and 238x. other one is android system 2 seconds x366

Yeah by underclocking to 1gb youll use less battery while doing demanding things like playing a game but youll also get poor performance.
Check out the app Cpu Spy and it will show you how long the CPU spends at each frequency. On my international s3 it spends a lot of time at 200 (minimum) and 800 (800 is the frequency it jumps to as soon as you touch the screen. It does spend some time at max speed but only when it has to and theres no point having a fast phone and then making it into a slow one (imo)
theres other ways to save battery by tweaking the CPU but id do a bit of reading first (undervolting and using different governors)
Or try another kernel like Lean Kernel

Well when i touch my screen, it always does the cpu speed i set it to on set cpu. Right now i have 1134. even if i higher it, it always goes to what it's set. But with the app, i noticed that 1512 was for 38 seconds. 1134 is for 5 minutes, and 384 mhz is for 7 minutes 21 seconds. Nothing else is active.

So when you touch your screen the cpu is jumping to max speed? That shouldnt be happening mate

Actually i just double checked and it goes to 1134. so i have it at the minimum for cpu speed. Still having that problem with wifi though.

heres some battery saving tips ive found over my android years

1 turn wifi off except when needed not that wifi is a true killer but the more apps that have to connect to net obviously more wifi needed

2 turn gps off again except when needed

3 turn your network(3g/4g) off yes i said network because its only needed on to (a) obviously connect to net (b) send/receive mms you can will still be able to send/receive calls/texts and like wifi if you have internet needed apps will suck network juice

On another note this is what i have taught my 13 yr old daughter and i mention that cuz ive figured out over the 3 months shes had phone that these providers rip ppl off with data and maybe following can help someone on a data plan save some data... i have her on h20 wireless(att towers) on a $40 unlimited plan with 1gb data monthly(mods no plug just need for illustration of my point} and ive seen with the 3 previous mentioned steps not only does battery run longer but her data usage has shown an avg of 800 or so mb left over monthly...like said shes 13 yr old girl so between the way girls gab lol and social network apps she has im amazed how much data she has left
