Default Samsung S4 Data?

Hi,

Basically my S4 has been eating alot of data, just by opening apps (that shouldnt not be using data) such as games and that, I know you can restrict "background data" but im guessing that doesnt solve the problem either?

I dont really want to turn mobile data off when im out, because if i loose it, it wont be able to locate it. And without really raising my data limit, what else can i do to stop apps using my data?

Yes i do use wifi alot.

It is not S4 eating the data, it is the apps. Check Data Usage from settings and see what is doing that.

Restricting background data probably will help!

Look at the data usage graph, work out which apps are consuming the most data, and if you need them running then configure them to use less i.e. poll less often for updates, sync at longer intervals etc. If you don't need them then either disable them or log-out of the associated accounts.

Check that "Show wifi usage" isn't enabled in the Data Usage menu, as this will artificially skew the figures.

I am looking at them, but its like general data like facebook and that, But how do you like "end" the programs so it doesnt use background data, like on the iPhone you can double click the home button and then hold the app and then close it from there.

You do not end apps, you set them up to synchronize less often or only on-demand.

You go into the apps and turn off notifications. Or reduce the amount of things it's notifying you about.
Anything with auto image upload or auto downloads like podcast subscriptions you can set to only do when on wifi.

You're coping pretty well.... imagine what it's like for someone arriving here with their first smartphone!

Taking Facebook as an example, open the app and use the Menu button find a "Settings" option. Somewhere in there will be a way of setting the period between feed updates; set it to "Never" to allow only manual updating/syncing.
