Not a single bit of lag on my phone. I turn it on, screen snaps on. I swipe, screen refreshed immediately. Apps are snappy, etc.

Did you do these things, because you don't specify and might feel a bit differently.
Your post isn't making sense to me:

Turn off what?
Software lag is turned on by default!?

The main problem for me is the 16gb. I appreciate you can put all photos, music etc on the external card but say for example you wish to cache lots of music you have on google music - this can only go on the internal storage which is very very limited.

I really like the Galaxy S4 but I wish it had a forward facing speaker or a kickstand like my HTC Thunderbolt did. When sound comes out of the back and phone is laying down it is hard to hear hence the kickstand or forward speakers would have been great.

You should get a flip case so you can somehow make the phone 'stand' when you listen to music or watching some videos.

So either you hold up your phone or just get a flip case.

Btw, maybe you can try to find a case with a kickstand. I heard of certain cases having that feature. Not sure whether they still exist or not

I hold my S4 when watching YouTube or HD movies from my SD card. The sound is still tiny and muzzled out. Max volume doesn't help.

So I got my S4 yesterday.

What a nice phone. Now I need to figure out how to use all the goodies it has.

Sure, it's a great phone, I just have to decide which features actually work great and make the overall experience faster and easier. My previous phone was a DX and I wasn't all that impressed with the support from Motorola. I'm hoping my Samsung experience will be better.

I had the S2 (loved it), S3 (hated it) and now have an S4, which I'm kind of ambivalent about. That's unfair - I like it....but I'm also the user/chooser for a small business, so recently replaced work handset (old Blackberry) and had BB Z10 (hated, sent straight back), BB Q10 (hated, sent straight back) then HTC One (love it).

So now I've both the HTC One (work) & the S4 (personal). Both set up with identical apps/emails etc, just different phone numbers. I've found that at the weekend I sometimes swap the sims so that I can use the HTC One rather the S4. Guess that's a tacit vote to the HTC One.

Was there a poll for the One? I did not see that.

I've only had my S4 for less than a day and I'm beyond happy with it. It seems light years ahead of my Galaxy Note and I haven't experienced the lag issue that others have reported.

Maybe try making a funnel or cover around the speaker to enhance the volume? I always do that with the speaker.

So stand in front of a wall when I watch movies or use the speakers? That could be potentially weird

One week in : this phone is awesome. Used it to record video of my buddies and me writing a new song in a garage, and the audio was decent enough to rip to cd. Also the software and feel are good enough for me to mod another message board from the phone itself. I wasn't comfortable doing that on my previous phone. Also, the camera is a pretty decent point and shoot. So far, I'm a happy customer.

If you click the user's name in their profile to the left of their post, you'll find a drop down menu that includes "find more posts by..."

Clicking that will present you with a list of their posts, in this case a few which are in the S4 device forum expressing an issue or two (Couple problems with my new S4, etc).

Those device forums are where those issues are generally discussed. I think this thread is more about general/overall satisfaction with the S4.

No problems what so ever. I just genuinely wasnt as impressed as i thought i would be. I still think the phone is amazing but i thought it would be more. Cant explain how though! I suppose i find most of it gimmicky. I ditched "Gallery" in favour of "QuickPic" but this doesnt support the air gesture function and i love using that function to show the phone off!

That's because of its features, specs and display.

I'm amazed at how fast the battery drains in this thing. But I was spoiled by the razr maxx.

Why can't other phone makers take Moto's idea on battery and gives us a longer lasting one!

This is probably the wrong thread to ask in, but since it's filled with owners who like and dislike, I figure I'll ask here -

The 16gb version - Does the expansion slot allow for large files (like from games) to be ran off of the card in slot? I'm a bit worried about only having less than 9gb usable space. The 32gb version is almost $100.00 more - I'm wondering if it's worth it or is the 16gb version suitable.

Basically, are you happy with the 16gb version's storage capabilities? Thanks

P.S. Money is an issue - The 16gb I can get for $168.00 - The 32 is $250.00

You can't get something for nothing. The screen on the GS4 is HUGE and is full HD (RAZR MAXX is 540x960). If you look at the battery statistics for your phone, you will see that the screen uses most the battery life. If you want better battery life, dim the screen or don't use it. If you want a phone with great battery life...get one with a small screen. There is no altering the laws of physics...at least not yet.

All that I know. But my thought put a little bit bigger battery in. Make the phone 1mm thicker and give a bigger battery to help compensate for the large screens.

Thanks

P.S. Money is an issue - The 16gb I can get for $168.00 - The 32 is $250.00
It has more than enough space for me with a card, but I don't download huge games, I'd probably go for the 32gb if it's available, better safe than sorry!

Thanks! Honestly, I'm not sure how many games I'll actually play since I'm coming from an archaic device, but I'd like the option.

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm thinking as well - go with the 32gb version to be safe, but the card slot exists - Would be more cost effective to get a 64gb SD card that can be used with other devices....that is if programs can have their files stored on the card (and run properly). Ive heard that android stopped that.

I would also like a bigger battery...who wouldn't? 2600mAh is pretty big compared to many phones. But I guess Samsung thought that a thinner phone is more important. There are aftermarket kits that include huge batteries with a different back cover. Someone just posted a review of one on this forum...I think it's a 5200mAh battery. But it adds a lot bulk.

I guess it's all in how you use it. Personally, I find the battery life to be excellent... on par with my Galaxy Note2 that preceded the GS4.

I typically go all day long (16 hours+) and often have 65% remaining at the end of the day... with light use. Even with moderate use, I rarely get under 35-40% in that time frame.

But what might be moderate use for me could be light use for someone else.

I have a pretty vast amount of apps on my memory and still plenty of storage to spare. I also have a 32gb memory card that I have a tone of music, movies, ebooks and games on. So to answer your question, yes you can pay gangs straight from the memory card. I use emulators by the way so those are the games I'm talking about.

Yep, I have over a hundred apps and many movies and tv series and years worth of pictures on my 64 gigabyte SD card and I've only used 21 gig on my card. I came from the s3 and I notice a notable difference in speed when it comes to browsing the internet and I also notice a notable difference in Hd movie quality as well as amazing camera abilities.. The Hd mode takes a challenging setting and makes a perfect contrast exposured picture.

Battery life is fine... But if you want to go crazy http://zerolemon.com/ has a 7000mah for the S3, I would expect he same or greater for the S4.

Wireless Charging abilities is nice too, they are making very thin recievers now so you can use your stock back and even add on armour etc cases.

I don't need music out the front although that's nice.
I can see in broad daylight better than I could with my s3 but that is where the HTC excels.

Talk quality obviously, and camera quality have always been top two on my list.
