Default verizon 32gb s4 preorder

As I was looking on my phone to upgrade my phone I see a 32 gb white frost and black mist galaxy s4 for 299.99. When I try to do it on my computer i dont see it only on my phone. Looks to be real soon.

......... Well, now I want the S4 with the Snap 800 in it. S3 and S4 are the same chipset family, but the Snap 800 is newer and shinier.....

While I'm excited, I would really like to wait and see until the 64gb comes out in late August/early September.

A few weeks back, I had spoken to a Verizon rep manning a kiosk in a Target store, who infringed me of the impending 32gb release. I asked him about the 64gb and he said late August/September timeframe.

I would have posted it as an unsubstantiated rumor here, but didn't want to dance the scrutiny. :-)

So now I'm putting it out here since he was right about the 32gb s4, the 64gb version "should" stiff later this summer.

I am seriously biting on the 32, and buying into any service plan that Best Buy may have, which allows for an upgrade. ...I just wouldn't be able to root it until I settle on my final phone.

Not so fast on the newer and shinier as far as the Snap 800. Though Samsung mentioned it was built with a new process and would be better on battery, the chipset uses the same 28nm process as the 600. Not seeing how the same 28nm process with a much faster gpu and faster cores will get that or run cooler. Seems it will run hotter.

I think I fell for the marketing BS they pushed out. Perhaps the LTE is a newer process. Seems this is all not adding up.

Snap 800 is also manufactured on 28nm process according to Wiki and TSMC site. But it's on the newer process node called HPm allowing for higher clock speed at the same power level.

So I don't think battery life on snap 800 will crush snap 600 though it will be faster with better CPU/GPU, higher clock.

HPm sounds like a fancy semantics term for dynamic core throttling.

If there's no difference with the phone besides memory, why spend $50+ for 16GB extra?

Um ...so someone can have extra memory for additional applications perhaps?

Verizon is now sold out of the 32 gigabyte version until July 8th. I tried to next day ship one, but too late.

Personally, I had anticipated that 16 GB would be more than enough. I have zero interest in games, and memory was never a constraint on my Droid 3 (which had only 8 GB). I simply installed all my music, videos, photos, and other big files on the SD card.

But, GOOGLE is clearly not interested in promoting phones with external storage any more and music or movies from the playstore can't go on the SD card (at least not without using a PC as a go between, or rooting).

I am beyond the 14 day return period but I got my phone at COSTCO. I called them about an hour ago and they agreed to swap my phone for the 32GB model. The big problem now is that they also do not have that model in stock.

I was under the impression that there is an update coming that allows us to do something similar with a $15 sdcard. I know it's not exactly the same, but a hundred bucks for 16GB of flash memory?!?!

The update is supposedly going to allow you to install applications on an SD card, but not the data that comes with the application (which is the real issue for gamers). Also, GOOGLE PLAY still won't let you store music or movies on an SD card.

Granted, most of us have tablets for watching movies and a many of us have no interest in games. IN that case, I think 16 GB of Ram (with a flash card for photos and most music) should work fine.

$100 for 16 GB of RAM is a ridiculously poor value though. VZW stores didn't even stock the 32 GB S3 for that reason.

If you're paying the no-contract price, it's only an extra $50.

Whoa, so you're saying that even after this update, 3 gigabytes of GPS map data is still going to be required to reside on the phone?

I don't know about that one. I suspect that is the case though but I would be lying if I said I knew for sure.

forgive me for being behind on the latest news.... but any idea when the update is coming? I am not a gamer. I have moved all my pics/music/etc. to my 32 GB card.. but for some reason I too am almost out of on board memory on my Verizon 16GB. I was trying to figure out how to upgrade to the 32 GB without shelling out another $699 bucks and trying to sell my current phone. (i bought off contract)

But if there is a solution coming...

Suggestions?

That doesn't sound right. Given what you are telling us about what is on your phone, you should have about 7 gb free.

Download a memory utility, like the free one by Sandisk, and find out what is eating all that memory.

Anybody else get theirs? I was dead wrong about the S4. The demo units I used appear to have been the problem. The S4 is the best device I have used to date. Though it has the same radio reception as the S3 (exact same), the device is better in every way. I posted a comparison that is in another thread, but even that needs updating. S4 is growing on me more, even though already rocked on first day.

Just wish I did not update, since root might be dead for good. Works GREAT, but prefer the option to root. Word.

I got my S4 32gb on Tuesday. It's amazing and I could not be happier. It's an evolutionary step, but a great one. I have rooted and installed the Google Edition ROM and this thing flies. TouchWiz slows this phone down greatly.

Do yourself a favour, get rid of touchwiz, it slows everything down! :-)

I use Nova and is speedy. I do not have root though (did the update) and would have preferred a Google rom. I guess I am out of luck in that regard now.

Hey Spence I ordered on Tuesday and I received on Thursday. Im coming from the s3 and the main reason I ordered was because I needed 32gb internal storage but man everything about this s4 is awsome. Im so glad I did it. If there are people on the fence about upgrading from their s3 to the s4 pull the trigger. You have 14 days to return if you dont like.

I'm upgrading my Galaxy Nexus (using my 10 year old daughter's line which is out of contract so I don't lose my unlimited data - she will retain her "dumb" flip-phone) so it should be a very nice improvement! My GNex (rooted and running the CM nightlies) rolls down to my wife (who currently has my old HTC Thunderbolt - also rooted).

I would have preferred to grow up to a 64GB S4, but a sideways upgrade from the GNex should be nice, if only for the many improvements in speed, connectivity & battery life that have come about since then.

The plan is to get it updated with the latest FW, then root it to get rid of the bloatware. I may eventually get CM loaded onto it, but only if they have seen to include APIs that take advantage of the new features (S-apps, motion control, eye-tracking pause, etc.).

Picked up my case/holster & Zagg screen protector yesterday, and have a class 10 64GB card waiting to be picked up. The only remaining item on my list is a spare battery & battery charger (for extended excursions), but these are secondary until I discern battery life, which I understand should be an improvement over my GNex.

Sorry about rambling on - Always excited to get a shiny new toy! Expecting delivery Wed-Thur this week. Can't freak'n wait!

Im in the process of backing up and unrooting my phone s4 16 gb so I can take it back and get the 32gb from another dealer. I'm afraid I'm going to get the new unrootable system already installed. do you have a link for instructions to root with the google edition rom and possibly what I will lose by ditching touchwiz?

Much Thanks for any response
