Default Internet via Mobile Data

Here's the problem, and for once it is not mine - it's little sisters

She is in the Irish Republic at the moment but has a package from Vodafone, 10 for 1 month and treated as if you were in the UK.

She tells me she has mobile data turned on and can send and receive emails. However, she says she cant access the internet. I sent her an emial with three links in it just to see it that would connect her. She hasn't got back to me yet.

I'd have thought that if you can send and receive emials then you are connected to the web (she is using gmail) so any suggestions as to why this might be the case.

Perhaps I should add that some of the areas she's visiting have poor reception for mobiles.

And I'm very happy to say that wihile I'm not very tech aware she's even less tech aware

You're correct: if she can send e-mail, then she has (some) internet connectivity which also suggests that she has Data Roaming turned on (though you might want to have her check that).

Could be reception. I can't see it being Voda limiting what she can access. Might be something to do with the proxy: have her check what it has under APNs (Settings .. Mobile networks .. Access Point Names) .. I guess it should be something with an ie on the end.
