Default Save home screen

Is there any way to save a home screen configuration?

I want to try a Nova and therefore want to reduce the home scree "underneath" to the bare minumum.

Can I save the set up I have to go back to?

something else I have noticed.

I am using Nova Launcher, which will import your home screen (except from the widgets).
I am trying to restore the default clock/weather widget but it is not available whilst in launcher???

is there a third party "copy"

In regard to your first question, the "configuration", TouchWiz set up will stay untouched. It's still there, just not operational.
You can test it by changing the default launcher within Nova.

Menu - Nova Settings - Select Default Home
Select TouchWiz Home (Just Once), and you can see it will not be effected.

As for the widget question, some of them are TouchWiz's native widgets, not meant to work with other launchers. Just like other features, Page Buddy, etc.

There are however, countless widgets you can use. I would personally recommend UCCW. It allows you to built your own widget, with whatever info you want, not just weather or time, but many many many other things. On top of that, there are many different weather icons you can use to load within the widget, so you can have it totally customized to your preference.

While UCCW might be a little strange at first, once you get used to it, you won't like any other widget

Here is a simple example of what I built for my screen. Very basic one, I just didn't have the time sit and make a complex one yet, but I'm working on one right now....

Here is an XDA forum, dedicated the UCCW themes.

You can also see samples made by other users, at MyColorScreen

If you need any help, do not hesitate to ask, will be happy to assist you. Believe me, it's so much more fun to built your own, then be confined to someone else's design

As soon as you open it in the edit mode, by default BACKGROUND is the first option ready for setting. You will see ALPHA button in the lower part of the screen. Set it to Maximum to see the area which the widget covers. Once done editing, set the background Alpha beck to zero.
Also, if you press the bar with the word "Background", you will see the list of items I used in the widget. The +/- button on the left, let you add more options. The Sort button, is to rearrange the level, if you were to change order in which items overlap each other.

As for the widget under my UCCW, that's AIX WEATHER. I do cycling and running, and I use it to see rain prediction for 24 hours ahead. Pretty damn accurate

You're right, UCCW is pretty cool.

Daunting at first but easy when you know how
