Default Galaxy S4 just tried to reply to an MMS all by itself

So this one has me stumped. I just got an MMS from a friend, went to read it, and saw the phone showed me a failed reply I apparently tried to send. The message information for the failed reply says it was sent at exactly the same time the message was received. The reply is completely blank.

Any idea what made this happen? It's unrooted, running the stock ROM, latest version installed.

You might have an unsafe app on your phone. Not saying you do, but you might.

Check out an app by Bitdefender called Clueful. It will allow you to see what your apps are doing.

No, silly. They intercept the message before it is received.

I have Avast on my phone already, it says everything is fine, plus I'm very careful about what I install in the first place.

There's nothing stock on the phone that will reply to your text messages without your knowledge or consent that I am aware of.

Apps like Clueful or Pocket Permissions would show you the list of apps that have the permission to send SMS/MMS on your phone ... one of them does send these unwanted MMS
