Default group message issue iphones to galaxy s4

Ok so ill start off saying I used to have a 4s and I just recently switched to an s4. I used to have a group message in which I used very often with 5 other iphone users when I had my iphone. Since I switched phones I am not able to receive any messages from this group message because their phones still send to the group in imessage. This does not happen with any other groups I make with other iphone users. Other groups work and I am able to receive there messages because the messages are sent in mms or sms. So it seems this problem only persists with the people in the old group message. Ive already had my friends delete the group turn off imessage and start it again. But as soon as they turn imessage on it goes back to imessage. I obviously want to continue this group message with these particular people and I dont expect them to keep their imessage off. so what can I do?
