Default Does using data on the s4 take up more than on the s2 for looking at the same things?

I'm not on 4g, i am with the same provider, i use the same bookmarks etc on both phones, i use dolphin browser hd.

when i had my s2 i only had 500mb data and never went over it.
when i got my s4 i got a good deal on 750mb so took it thinking well if i currently don't go over 500 i should be fine because my setup is the same and im doing the same things as before.

This hasn't been the case though, since getting my s4 i have gone over my data pretty much 3 months in a row, i am finding i am using around 800 - 1000mb

I am just wondering if its because the screens bigger etc it needs to download a lot of extra data compared to the s2?

thanks

james

No not at all.

More likely is that on your S4 you have more applications running in the background that require a data connection, or you have different refresh/sync settings.

Go to Settings>Data Usage to look at what is taking up the data.

I'm not sure, but I have noticed that my Mobil data is much higher on my S4 then on my Atrix 4G. I have my phone set up pretty much the same, as my Atrix 4G, as far as using wifi, but since the S4 has LTE, I don't know if it uses more data then 3G, which is what the Atrix 4G used. I've had my phone now, for over 4 months. My average mobile data usage, with my S4, has been around 2.59 GB for the past 2 months. Wifi data has been well over 10 GB for the same time period. (I did down load some large game apps during this time period on wifi.)

Like any other technology out there, if it has access to bigger bandwidth, it will use it.

My S2 was a 3G device, and I rarely used more than 2GB data on it in a month. But I was pretty good about waiting until I was around WiFi to do any data intensive streaming or downloading. The data needs of my background apps were pretty low, too.

Now that my S4 is 4G LTE, it is as fast if not faster in some cases than a WiFi connection, so I rarely turn WiFi on any more.

Couple that with Samsung/Google upgrading their apps and OS to want more background data more often, and you're going to use more data by default.
