Angry Samsung Galaxy S4 memory problem.

My S4 is now saying i have only 1.73 GB of memory left where i should clearly have roughly 5GB and after looking through my applications and storage cannot find what is filling this up. Is there a way of finding what is using it up?thanks in advance.

Where is it telling you that? In Settings/storage?
Or are you getting a message flashing on your home screen after you install/update apps from play store?

If the latter, this thread may help - Internal Storage Discrepancy

If the former, settings/storage should show you what is taking up that storage space

It would help if you gave some numbers. How much space is taken up by downloaded apps?

The OS on the S4 takes up a lot of storage space. About 8GB as I recall.

Try using DiskUsage, which is free in thePlay Store. That will give you a detailed breakdown of disk usage.

Screenshot of the settings/storage page may help - or provide numbers as Goodspike stated.

For example, my storage page shows

Total space 16GB
System Memory - 6.28GB
Applications 2.73GB
Pictures,videos 251MB
Audip 0.89MB
Downloads 25.02MB
Available space 6.79GB
