Question Just installed update but where is the change log?

I have just downloaded and installed a regular firmware update on my Galaxy S3.

How do I find out what has changed? Sometimes things are obvious and I find them just by using the phone/apps but surely there must be a list somewhere of what goodies have been installed or what bugs have been fixed?

Hello and welcome raddersred.

In answer to your question, it would be quite logical, even instinctual to expect Samsung to give a change log. Sadly they donot. Don't ask me why I really don't know. The cynic in me thinks they don't want you to know what the update "broke", as well as improved, but that would be me.

^True, the only way you'll find out is if one of the tech sites has ripped it apart.
If it wasn't 4.4 then it's probably just a maintenance thing from either Samsung or your carrier. Has the baseband changed?

Also, arstechnica posted a pretty thorough review of KitKat but don't forget that different carriers like to screw with things in different ways so YMMV.

Hmmm, yeah I guess I could have asked. Duh.

raddersred, are you out there? Do you have some version I.D. info for us?
4.1.2(Jellybean)? 4.3 (still JB)? 4.4.2 (KitKat)?

Thanks for all the replies. Sorry I got myself locked out of the forum for some reason! Also, embarrassingly I just realised I posted this in the S3 forum and it's an S4. Oops!

To answer the earlier question it is showing: 4.4.2 Baseband I9505XXUFND7. Kernel 3.4.0-481100. Build KOT49H.I9505XXUFND7 - if that means anything to anyone!?

I was just hoping there was a simple log of enhancements and fixes but it seems not from your replies. :-|

(now I need to work out how to move my post to the correct board...or is that an admin job?)

KitKat "bugfix" updates rolling out

This is a Samsung release as opposed to a Google Android update. As per #1.4 of Post #1...

"Unfortunately, Samsung do not publish actual details of their changelists so I cannot say which specific items have been updated."
