Default Sprint Store Wiped Phone

About a week ago my wife's phone was stolen. I was able to track it and the police were able to recover it from the girl who stole it. Unfortunately the girl put a the dot security on it. My wife took it to the sprint store to see if the could unlock it for her. The guy at the store said that they couldn't unlock it because the girl had tossed the SIM card. With out asking the guy at the store just wiped the phone. Needless to say, my wife was pissed. There were files on the phone that she needed, some pertaining to games that she wanted off the phone. I tried doing some online searches to see if there was anything that could restore the files. I found a couple that seemed promising. The first one I tried, I found was not compatible with the S4. The other one would start scanning then would say there were errors then give up. Is there a way to recover these wiped files?

You don't say how the Sprint employee wiped the phone but the chances are that your wife is out of luck. There is no simple or cheap way of doing this. if there were, what would be the point of wiping at all?

Having said that, most factory resets don't actually delete all the data, that is, they don't overwrite the space but recovering files from a Unix file system is more difficult than a Windows file system. If the data is really really important, there are forensic recovery services and also digital forensic software such as FTK Imager that can sometimes recover data from phones but you will pay for either of those options.

If all your wife has lost is a few games saves, she will just have to suck it up and learn to do regular backups in future.

I figured this would be the answer. I was hoping that I was just overlooking something. Thanks for the reply.
