note:
-read all comments first for users feedback
-this is a very stable version ( flashed my phone just recently and im not having any problems til now)
-very easy process. took me minutes to finish
-optional... before updating, download "quadrant standard" first. its a benchmark test free from market. run it then take note of the result. after the update, run it again and see the difference!
IMPORTANT!
to avoid issues/problems caused by the update, do the updation process TWICE and then follow the instructions there for clearing the cache.
good luck!
Dear Kyrospyke, how do you downgrade, from 2.3 to 2.2?? Jus in case I'm not satisfied with the upgrade...
Also, are all the softwares installed in 2.2 compatible with 2.3?
@ajamxar. be sure to backup files before updating. there are also tutorials on downgrading. just search for it. im just as newbie as you so im not really sure about downgrading. havnt done that before. i wouldnt be going back to froyo after having a taste of gingerbread anyway. this is perfect for me. all the softwares i had in froyo are also the same ones im using now in gingerbread, so i can say yes. they ar compatible.
@xploitz. yes pre. didnt have to root. stock rom din kasi ito. before i thought i would have to root just to uninstall some preinstalled apps that came with the phone but aftr the update, its all gone so im happy now. rooting voids your warranty, updating does not. try to search for more info about this just to be sure.
lol i checked with samsung center and they said unofficial update of firmware voids warranty. rooted or not rooted devices. tsktsktsk. i better stick to froyo until having the guts to move on.

then i guess im on my own now. lol! kies sucks anyway
@Kryospyke, is there any noticeable improvement in battery life, after the upgrade?? That is the only -ve point in my phone, as far as Im concerned.. Have to charge every night, wat about u??
yes it did improve. but i cant confirm for others as phones differ even being the same model. it also depends on how you use your phone and what apps are installed. i can say it added 3-5 hrs battery life to my phone depending on the usage. before, i use to mellow down using my phone after 15 hrs until i get home. i never bring charger and i dont hav portable charger as well. now i use it whenever i can (im working) and still have enough juice left before the next charge. data is always on (switching to wifi at home). i always surf the internet, watch youtube...messenger...mail...etc... but all of this, with the help of juicedefender, of course.
and one more thing, say bye bye to kies after the update as it will not recognise the phone anymore.
i have been hearing that I9003XXKPH is much more stable XXKPE
i believe so too XploitZ. and also because it is the latest one. but as im not having issues with XXKPE, i decided to stay on this version. as they say, "dont fix what is not broken"

Well, to not void warranty, I think I'll just head off to Samsung Service Center in Megamall when I have the time (its about 30min from where I am anyway). Checked with Samsung and they say service centers offer manual update, so no warranty voided.

i hate KIES for the delay
now ive updated mine to XXKPE, everything good so far except for the stock music player wherein it stops when the display turns off. a downloaded music player app for replacement solved that problem.
hhhmmnn... i guess im lucky i did not encounter any issues with my phone on XXKPE up to now (but i did need to flash twice for it to work properly though). never needed to go XXKPH as some did. )
