Default Just received ICS on my tab 10.1

booted my tab up and got the system update. Much different the the old OS. Seems really quick and just need to redo the widgets.

Why so late? Didn't ICS come out over a month ago?

Verizon did not push it to me until today. I have been checking almost daily to see if I had the update. Looks like it was today

Yup it's a very nice improvement on my 3G Tab. Jelly Bean is nice, but ICS is quite impressive on the Tab, and everything works as expected.

For sure, bf.
And the additional things you can do with ICS are really nice.
Launchers, themes, rooting, etc.
It was a lot of fun with HC 3.2, but much improved with ICS.

Hi Scott,

Nor have I.

I'm not sure where you are in the world but I'm in the UK. My carrier is Vodafone.

Does anyone know what the roll-out plan is for either Jelly Bean or ICS on the SGT10.1 in Old Blighty?

3G models are a bit behind. Verizon's version just received it a week or so ago. Hang in there, should be coming any time now.

ICS international version has been released in the UK already, for both the WiFi and 3G models. I have the Canadian 3G version but I installed the UK international firmware on my Tab to get rid of the carrier crap. It's a nice clean installation and it works great on my 3G model. It includes UK and US english language packs, as well as Italian, Spanish, French, etc. It doesn't have Canadian French, but I don't need it. It doesn't have any carrier customized apps or settings which is exactly what I wanted.

So if you want the customized carrier version, you'll have to wait for Vodaphone to finish with it. If you don't want the carrier version, then just download and install the UK international version. This link is to info from XDA forums on how to install the international (UK/IT) version:

How to flash and root new 4.0.4 ICS stock rom - xda-developers

The firmware is intended for many European countries, but you simply select the language you want when it reboots and runs the intial Setup routine. And it talks about rooting, but if you don't want to root, simply ignore the instructions for rooting.

I would have thought I would have received the update by now as I'm in New York...............but no. Tab is wifi only and bought from best buy if it matters at all.

Many thanks, guys. Really appreciate the feedback. I'll wait a little longer to see if it becomes available from Vodafone UK. If it doesn't materialize, I'll pay a visit to xda developers. Apart from the different GUI, what are the advantages in using ICS?

Faster, smoother, better all around. Too many changes for me to list here.

Why not visit YouTube and look at comparisons? Or read reviews of ICS on the Tab?
