Default Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet has cross in battery when charging

Hi Everyone,
I am new to this forum, I am from Australia and I have a question.

I have a samsung galaxy 10.1 which has a cross on the battery icon when charging and it will not charge fully. I have looked everywhere for an explanation of this problem but to no avail.

Thanks in advance if you can help at all.
happy new year to all.

Is it plugged into the wall charger or a computer? The cross on the battery icon is normal when it's plugged into a computer. It is charging, just very slowly. If it's plugged into a wall charger I suspect something is wrong with the cable or wall charger unit.

If you have custom power saving mode enabled and plug in the charger, power saving mode is disabled and I'm pretty sure that's what the x means.

Yes, the x I have found to mean that it is plugged in but not getting the full 2.1 amps to charge. Aftermarket chargers and usb ports usually don't have the full amps required to charge. Although I have found a few chargers that will provide the power to charge, it is best to stick with oem just to be sure.
The Tab needs 2.1 or 2.0 amps to start charging.
