Using Tab 7.7 on other network?

I live in Canada, but would like to buy a Galaxy Tab 7.7. Will this tablet work on Telus? Are they locked like a phone would be? Can they be unlocked?

If this has been asked before I apologize, but I definitely want clarification prior to dropping 700 bones.

I live in the UK, I bought an Unlocked/Sim Free one from Hong Kong, so they should work, like any normal mobile, if you have to buy a locked one you should be able to get it unlocked.
