Default Want to be a hero? Compile Clockwork Recovery for Galaxy Tab!

Koush has a guide written up on how to compile Clockwork for new devices here:

My Brain Hurts: Porting Clockwork Recovery to New Devices

I think the toughest part is figuring out how to dump the boot img, because I'm pretty sure the SGT doesn't use MTD, so Koush's dump_image binary won't work.

I'll be giving this a shot tonight, but I encourage anyone more experienced/knowledgeable to give it a try!

The faster we get a recovery on this thing, the sooner we'll see themes and ROMS!

You can easily get the partitions.
Just obtain root in recovery.

dd if=/dev/block/bml1 of=/sdcard/bml1.img

You can try without root as well.

I have a linux box I'd be more than happy to compile it on; I just don't want to brick my shiny new SGT

Have you rooted it yet?

There are several programs that will do it.

If you want a tester to apply the recovery when you compile it I am happy to do that. I'm not shy. LOL

The issue is if I #$%^ up the recovery, won't it be sort of hard to reflash a good image?

If you keep a flash of the recovery as an Update.zip it will flash from hboot. If you blow up recovery it can still be reflashed.
